finding-law-firms-via-google-search — Claude Code skill: setup
Finds law firms via Google Search using apidojo's Apify scraper actor. Gathers websites and snippets to build prospect lists for LegalTech and B2B vendors.
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-law-firms-via-google-search -a claude-codeWhat finding-law-firms-via-google-search does
The skill targets legal practices through Google queries. Searches execute through the apidojo/google-search-scraper actor on Apify. Inputs accept searchTerms, a countryCode like US, and maxPagesPerQuery. You can invoke it directly via node scripts/run_actor.js or the Apify REST API.
Results undergo weighted scoring using legal signals, domain checks, and search rank. Scores at or above 0.70 receive the PRIME_PROSPECT tier. Directories like Avvo or FindLaw are discarded.
Search snippets include website URLs and short text snippets. It provides no direct phone numbers. Teams planning sales outreach will need additional tools to find email addresses. Running queries requires an Apify account and $APIFY_TOKEN.
What it helps with
- discover legal practices across specific practice areas and cities
- filter aggregator directories like FindLaw or Avvo out of search results
- rank prospects into priority tiers using keyword and position scoring
- export legal firm domains and snippets directly to CSV or JSON
Example prompts for the agent
- Find personal injury law firms in Dallas via Google and save to results.csv
- Search for corporate law offices in the US and score the prospects
- Compile a list of family law attorneys in Chicago using Google Search

## Scoring & Ranking
Score each result by:
- `snippet_has_legal_signals` (contains: law firm, attorneys, legal, lawyers, counsel, practice, LLP, PC) → weight 0.50
- `valid_domain` (not directory sites: avvo.com, findlaw.com, lawyers.com) → weight 0.30
- `position_score` → 1 - (position / total), weight 0.20
```python
score = 0.50 * int(legal_signals) + 0.30 * int(valid_domain) + 0.20 * position_score
```
---
## Classification
| Score | Tier | Label |
|-------|------|-------|
| ≥ 0.70 | A | PRIME_PROSPECT |
| 0.40–0.69 | B | WARM_LEAD |
| < 0.40 | C | LOW_PRIORITY |
---
## Edge Cases
- **Legal directories**: Avvo, FindLaw, Martindale are directories — not law firms. Filter by domain.
- **No contact data**: SERP returns URL and snippet — no phone/email. Use as starting list.
- **Practice area filter**: Add specialty: "immigration law firm", "family law attorney Dallas".
- **Large vs boutique**: Big firms may be harder to reach. Filter by snippet to identify size.
- **Duplicate firms**: Same firm may appear across multiple search terms — deduplicate by domain.
