finding-hospitality-brands-on-instagram — Claude Code skill
Finds hotels and resorts on Instagram via Apify, scoring hospitality accounts into lead tiers for B2B sales.
npx skills add apidojo-io/apidojo-skills --skill finding-hospitality-brands-on-instagram -a claude-codeWhat finding-hospitality-brands-on-instagram does
This skill searches Instagram for hotels, travel brands, and resorts using Apify's apidojo/instagram-scraper actor. It runs through scripts/run_actor.js, a direct Apify REST call, or the Apify MCP call_actor tool. Target inputs accept startUrls pointing to profiles, location tags, reels, or focused hashtags like #boutiquehotel.
Each profile receives a score between zero and one. Follower counts (capped at 100000) and post engagement rates each contribute 0.35 of the score. Having a location tag adds another 0.30. Accounts scoring 0.70 or above become PRIME_PROSPECT leads. Contacts under 0.40 fall into LOW_PRIORITY.
Queries will fail without a valid $APIFY_TOKEN or active Apify MCP integration. Broad hashtags generate irrelevant noise. The skill relies on specific tags like #boutiquehotel and checks bio text to eliminate personal creator pages.
What it helps with
- build targeted hotel and resort lead lists from Instagram
- rank hospitality accounts by engagement rate and follower count
- filter out travel bloggers and booking aggregators from brand search
- export enriched Instagram business profiles into CSV or JSON
Example prompts for the agent
- Find boutique hotels on Instagram using #boutiquehotel and export results to results.csv
- Discover travel brands active on Instagram and score them for B2B sales outreach
- Prospect hotel owner accounts on Instagram and filter out personal creator profiles

## Scoring & Ranking
Score each account by:
- `followerCount` → normalized 0-1 (cap at 100K), weight 0.35
- `engagement_rate = (likeCount + commentCount) / followerCount` → weight 0.35
- `has_location_tag` (post has location data) → 0 or 1, weight 0.30
```python
score = 0.35 * min(followerCount / 100000, 1.0) + 0.35 * min(engagement_rate / 0.03, 1.0) + 0.30 * int(has_location)
```
---
## Classification
| Score | Tier | Label |
|-------|------|-------|
| ≥ 0.70 | A | PRIME_PROSPECT |
| 0.40–0.69 | B | WARM_LEAD |
| < 0.40 | C | LOW_PRIORITY |
---
## Edge Cases
- **Travel bloggers vs hotel brands**: Bloggers post travel content too. Filter by accounts with location tag + bio mentions "hotel" or "resort".
- **Broad hashtag**: #travel returns too many posts. Use #boutiquehotel, #hotelowner, #hotelmarketing.
- **Aggregator accounts**: TripAdvisor or Booking.com aggregators — filter out by domain check.
- **Low engagement**: Hospitality brands often have lower engagement than influencers — adjust threshold.
- **Consumer posts**: Guests tag hotels in posts — filter by account follower count > 500.
