federation-init — Claude Code skill: connect to RuFlo Federation
Skill to connect to RuFlo Federation via the public x.ruv.io MCP service. Walks through access setup, shows gateway details and available channels.
npx skills add ruvnet/ruflo --skill federation-init -a claude-codeWhat federation-init does
federation-init guides the user through four steps: displays current connection and client recommendations, shows gateway identity and configured relay, lists coordination channels, and summarizes what is already connected and what must be configured outside the IDE.
The skill calls x.ruv.io MCP methods: federation_onboarding for detailed guidance, federation_identity for gateway data, channel_list for available channels. When the user explicitly requests announcing gateway presence, the skill warns that this creates a signed, append-only event that cannot be edited or reliably retracted.
Important: the skill does not create local signing keys, install RuFlo locally, or enable HIPAA, SOC 2, or GDPR modes. Those operations require the CLI from ruvnet/ruflo documentation.
What it helps with
- Connect an IDE to RuFlo Federation via x.ruv.io
- View gateway identity and connection details
- List available coordination channels
- Announce gateway presence in the federation
Example prompts for the agent
- Help me connect to RuFlo Federation
- What channels are available in the federation?
- Show me how this works — I want to announce the gateway's presence

Questions about federation-init
How do I install federation-init in Claude Code?
Run npx skills add ruvnet/ruflo --skill federation-init -a claude-code, then check the instructions in ~/.claude/skills/federation-init/SKILL.md.
What does federation-init do?
The skill shows how to connect to RuFlo Federation, displays gateway data and coordination channels, and helps announce gateway presence via the public x.ruv.io MCP service.
Does the skill create a local signing key?
No, that is handled by the local CLI. federation-init only shows connection steps; local setup and security modes are configured separately through ruvnet/ruflo.

--- name: federation-init description: Guide a user through connecting to RuFlo Federation with the public x.ruv.io MCP service. Use for onboarding, connection details, available channels, or an explicitly requested gateway presence announcement. --- # Initialize RuFlo Federation Access This is the ChatGPT edition of the `ruvnet/ruflo` federation initialization workflow. Use only capabilities exposed by the x.ruv.io public MCP profile. 1. Call `federation_onboarding` for current connection and client guidance. 2. Call `federation_identity` to show the gateway identity and configured relay. 3. Call `channel_list` when the user wants to see where coordination occurs. 4. Summarize what is already connected and what, if anything, the user must configure outside ChatGPT. Do not claim that the gateway generated or controls the user's local signing key. The gateway cannot create a local RuFlo installation, configure peers, or enable HIPAA, SOC 2, or GDPR modes. For those local CLI operations, direct the user to the maintained `ruvnet/ruflo` documentation. Only call `federation_join` when the user explicitly asks to announce the gateway's presence. Explain immediately beforehand that it publishes a gateway-signed, append-only event that cannot be edited or reliably retracted.
