ecommerce-platform-specialist — Claude Code skill for Shopify work
A skill that steers your agent through Shopify development: Admin API, Storefront API, Liquid themes, webhooks and checkout.
npx skills add qodex-ai/ai-agent-skills --skill ecommerce-platform-specialist -a claude-codeWhat ecommerce-platform-specialist does
The skill hands the agent a reference set for building on Shopify. Topics include the GraphQL Admin API for products, orders and customers, the Storefront API for carts and checkout, the legacy REST Admin API, Liquid themes with sections and blocks, webhooks, Shopify Functions, Hydrogen and POS. It ships as markdown files the agent greps and opens when a question comes up.
The docs are not bundled. The skill points at docs/shopify/ and suggests pulling them with docpull; without those files the agent falls back on general knowledge instead of the official reference. Installing the skill alone does not fetch them.
The license is proprietary and the terms sit in the repo's LICENSE.txt. App work needs SHOPIFY_API_KEY and SHOPIFY_API_SECRET, plus OAuth or session tokens wired up.
What it helps with
- write a GraphQL Admin API query for a product list
- build a cart and get its checkout URL from the Storefront API
- register a webhook for new orders and verify its HMAC
- work out sections and blocks in a Liquid theme
- set up OAuth or session tokens for an embedded app
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me how to query products with the GraphQL Admin API, variants and inventory included
- Write an
orders/createwebhook handler with HMAC verification - How do I loop over product variants in Liquid and hide the button when it's sold out?

How do I install ecommerce-platform-specialist in Claude Code?

What does ecommerce-platform-specialist do?
It gives your agent Shopify-specific answers on APIs, themes, apps, checkout, Functions and headless commerce. Those answers come from the docs stored in docs/shopify/.
Does the skill need the Shopify docs pulled separately?
Yes. It suggests pipx install docpull followed by docpull https://shopify.dev/docs -o .claude/skills/shopify/docs. Skip that and the agent has no local reference to read.
