dx-cli — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Connects your agent to DX APIs through the CLI to manage software catalogs, scorecard health checks, and engineering metrics.
npx skills add get-dx/cli --skill dx-cli -a claude-codeWhat dx-cli does
This skill allows an agent to run dx CLI operations against the getdx.com API. It lets you query entities and entity types inside the Software Catalog, inspect scorecard check results across services, and view tasks assigned to teams. You can also analyze survey slices from Snapshot and manage tiles inside Data Studio reports.
The skill also resolves platform administration questions. Instead of guessing, the agent queries llms.txt and pulls the relevant Markdown page from docs.getdx.com to retrieve exact setup sequences for SSO or GitHub connectors. CLI commands support machine-readable output through the --json flag.
All CLI interactions require network connectivity and an authenticated session. Run dx auth login or dx init before issuing requests, because unauthenticated commands fail immediately.
What it helps with
- Inspect service health and SQL checks across scorecards
- Query and modify entities within the Software Catalog
- Review survey score distributions across attribute groups
- Fetch exact setup procedures for connectors from official docs
Example prompts for the agent
- Check the scorecard status for entity
billing-service - Run
dx auth whoamito inspect the active credentials - Find the step-by-step GitHub backfill guide in DX documentation
