What digitalocean-management does

The skill covers three areas of DigitalOcean: monitoring, uptime checks and Projects. Monitoring means enabling it for droplets and clusters, tracking CPU, memory and disk metrics, and setting alerts on critical thresholds. Uptime covers checks for URLs, hostnames and IPs, downtime and latency notifications, plus SSL expiry where it applies. Projects group resources by application or environment and set ownership boundaries.

There is a workflow inside: standardise projects and naming first, then enable monitoring with baseline alerts, add uptime checks for public endpoints, and review metrics after each deployment. The skill is not user-invocable and does not invoke the model — it is a reference with patterns.

It points to related skills from the same author for networking and load balancers, storage and snapshots, and managed databases. Those are optional; the skill works without them. If you already have your own naming scheme in the DigitalOcean console, check the Projects section first — a mismatch there tends to break alerting later.

What it helps with

  • enable monitoring for droplets and clusters
  • set alerts on critical CPU, memory and disk thresholds
  • create uptime checks for URLs, hostnames and IPs
  • track SSL certificate expiry
  • group resources into projects by environment

Example prompts for the agent

  • Set up monitoring and alerts for my DigitalOcean droplets
  • Create uptime checks for public endpoints with downtime notifications
  • Organise resources into projects: staging and production separately

How to install digitalocean-management

1Skills CLI (Vercel)

Questions about digitalocean-management

How do I install digitalocean-management in Claude?

Run npx skills add bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills --skill digitalocean-management -a claude-code. The skill file lands at ~/.claude/skills/digitalocean-management/SKILL.md.

What does digitalocean-management do?

It covers monitoring, uptime checks and Projects on DigitalOcean: which metrics to watch, how to set alerts, and how to group resources by environment.

Do I need the other DigitalOcean skills for it to work?

No. The networking, storage and managed database skills are listed as complements, and this skill is fully functional without them.

## Overview

DigitalOcean management services provide monitoring, uptime checks, and resource organization to keep workloads healthy and visible.

## Monitoring

- Enable monitoring for Droplets and clusters.
- Track CPU, memory, and disk metrics.
- Configure alerts for critical thresholds.

## Uptime

- Create checks for URLs, hostnames, and IPs.
- Set alert notifications for downtime and latency.
- Monitor SSL expiration where applicable.

## Projects

- Group resources by application or environment.
- Use Projects to scope ownership and visibility.

## Operational Workflow

- Standardize Projects and naming.
- Enable Monitoring and baseline alerts.
- Add Uptime checks for public endpoints.
- Review metrics and alerts after deployments.

## Complementary Skills

When using this skill, consider these related skills (if deployed):

- **digitalocean-networking**: Load balancers and DNS routing visibility.
- **digitalocean-storage**: Backup and snapshot strategy.
- **digitalocean-managed-databases**: Database metrics and alerts.

*Note: Complementary skills are optional. This skill is fully functional without them.*
