What devops does

The skill covers four targets: Cloudflare (Workers, Pages, R2, D1), Docker and Docker Compose, Google Cloud through gcloud (Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL), and Kubernetes with kubectl and Helm. A selection table maps needs to platforms — Cloudflare Workers for global latency under 50 ms, R2 for large files with no egress fees, Docker plus Cloud Run or GKE for containers.

Reference files are split by topic: cloudflare-workers-basics.md, cloudflare-r2-storage.md, docker-compose.md, gcloud-services.md, kubernetes-helm.md, kubernetes-security.md, kubernetes-troubleshooting.md and more. Two scripts ship with it: scripts/cloudflare-deploy.py automates Worker deployments, scripts/docker-optimize.py analyses Dockerfiles. There is also a practices section covering non-root containers, RBAC, secrets in environment variables and multi-stage builds.

Worth installing if you actually work with these platforms. The skill does not install wrangler, gcloud or kubectl for you — commands like wrangler deploy or kubectl apply -f manifests/ run in your environment, so without working credentials in Cloudflare or GCP they fail on the first step.

What it helps with

  • deploy a Worker to Cloudflare with the right bindings
  • write a Dockerfile and run the container locally
  • ship a service to Cloud Run with gcloud
  • debug a crashing pod from events and logs
  • set up RBAC and secrets in a cluster

Example prompts for the agent

  • deploy my worker to Cloudflare Workers with wrangler
  • help me write a Docker Compose setup for the app and its database
  • the pod in Kubernetes won't start — check events and logs

How to install devops

1Skills CLI (Vercel)

npx skills add mrgoonie/claudekit-skills --skill devops -a claude-code

2Manually: put the files in place

~/.claude/skills/devops/SKILL.md

Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/devops/

Questions about devops

How do I install devops in Claude?

Run npx skills add mrgoonie/claudekit-skills --skill devops -a claude-code. The skill file then lands at ~/.claude/skills/devops/SKILL.md.

What does the devops skill do?

It helps the agent deploy and maintain infrastructure on Cloudflare, Docker, Google Cloud and Kubernetes. It ships reference docs per platform, two scripts and a set of security and performance practices.

Do I need anything set up before using it?

Yes. Commands such as wrangler deploy, gcloud run deploy and kubectl apply run in your environment, so the CLIs must be installed and authenticated against the matching service.

# DevOps Skill

Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure across Cloudflare, Docker, Google Cloud, and Kubernetes.

## When to Use

- Deploy serverless apps to Cloudflare Workers/Pages
- Containerize apps with Docker, Docker Compose
- Manage GCP with gcloud CLI (Cloud Run, GKE, Cloud SQL)
- Kubernetes cluster management (kubectl, Helm)
- GitOps workflows (Argo CD, Flux)
- CI/CD pipelines, multi-region deployments
- Security audits, RBAC, network policies

## Platform Selection

| Need | Choose |
|------|--------|
| Sub-50ms latency globally | Cloudflare Workers |
| Large file storage (zero egress) | Cloudflare R2 |
| SQL database (global reads) | Cloudflare D1 |
| Containerized workloads | Docker + Cloud Run/GKE |
| Enterprise Kubernetes | GKE |
| Managed relational DB | Cloud SQL |
| Static site + API | Cloudflare Pages |
| Container orchestration | Kubernetes |
| Package management for K8s | Helm |

## Quick Start

```bash
# Cloudflare Worker
wrangler init my-worker && cd my-worker && wrangler deploy
# Docker
docker build -t myapp . && docker run -p 3000:3000 myapp
# GCP Cloud Run
gcloud run deploy my-service --image gcr.io/project/image --region us-central1
# Kubernetes
kubectl apply -f manifests/ && kubectl get pods
```

## Best Practices

**Security:** Non-root containers, RBAC, secrets in env vars, image scanning
**Performance:** Multi-stage builds, edge caching, resource limits
**Cost:** R2 for large egress, caching, right-size resources
**Development:** Docker Compose local dev, wrangler dev, version control IaC
