dd-docs — Claude Code skill: Datadog documentation lookup
The dd-docs skill connects your agent to Datadog documentation via llms.txt, an LLM-optimized index of every doc page.
npx skills add datadog-labs/agent-skills --skill dd-docs -a claude-codeWhat dd-docs does
The skill fetches docs.datadoghq.com/llms.txt, a file listing all documentation pages with URLs, descriptions, and Markdown source links. Your agent sees the full product map (APM, Logs, Monitors, Synthetics, RUM, Security) and can pull any page as .md by appending the extension to the URL.
Inside are curl commands to grep the index for topics and download specific sections. A table of key areas (tracing, metrics, dashboards, API) cuts navigation time. The skill reads public docs only; it makes no requests to the Datadog API itself.
For regional sites like datadoghq.eu, swap the domain manually — the skill defaults to .com.
What it helps with
- look up monitor or metric limits in Datadog documentation
- download the Markdown source of an APM or logs section
- verify feature availability in official docs before setup
- cross-check query syntax against the canonical reference
Example prompts for the agent
- Find how many tags a single Datadog metric can have in the docs
- Download the RUM page from docs.datadoghq.com as Markdown
- Show me the Synthetics section link from the llms.txt index
