cli-tunnel — Claude Code skill: what it does, how to install
Manages ngrok, Cloudflare, and custom tunnel connections through the OmniRoute CLI. Handy when you need to expose local servers and inspect active URLs.
npx skills add cheaper-inference/OmniRoute --skill cli-tunnel -a claude-codeWhat cli-tunnel does
The skill equips your coding agent to start and stop network tunnels straight from the chat. It interfaces directly with the omniroute tunnel command suite. You can launch ngrok or Cloudflare tunnels, fetch active public URLs, and test whether your service is reachable externally.
Under the hood, it triggers subcommands such as omniroute tunnel create [type], omniroute tunnel list, and omniroute tunnel info <type>. It also handles rotation with --yes and pulls recent output using --tail <n>. Several subcommands accept --json for structured output parsing.
The skill relies entirely on the omniroute package. You must install it globally via npm install -g omniroute or have npx configured, or every tunnel action will fail.
What it helps with
- start a public tunnel using ngrok or Cloudflare
- inspect active tunnel URLs and external reachability
- view recent tunnel logs with custom tail limits
- rotate tunnel endpoints via command-line flags
Example prompts for the agent
- List all running tunnels in omniroute with json output
- Create a new Cloudflare tunnel for my local port
- Check the status and logs of the active ngrok tunnel
