catalyst-nosql — Claude Code skill: Catalyst NoSQL tables
A skill that tells the agent how to work with Catalyst NoSQL tables: build items with NoSQLItem, insert, fetch and update records.
npx skills add catalystbyzoho/agent-skills --skill catalyst-nosql -a claude-codeWhat catalyst-nosql does
The skill fires on nosql.table, insertItems, fetchItem, updateItems, deleteItems, queryTable and NoSQLItem. The agent gets the SDK operations plus the partition-key model — a record cannot be built without the partition key.
It also ships a decision table for Catalyst Data Store versus Catalyst NoSQL. Fixed schema, ZCQL and joins belong to Data Store, and the skill says to stop and load catalyst-datastore instead. Flexible per-item structure, JSON format and write throughput are the NoSQL side. If your project already runs relational queries, this skill is the wrong pick, and that is worth checking before you wire it in.
The agent then loads references/nosql-basics.md and answers with the SDK call, the table name, the partition-key attribute and the NoSQLItem construction. Install comes from the catalystbyzoho/agent-skills repository through npx skills add.
What it helps with
- build a NoSQL item with the
NoSQLItembuilder - insert a batch of records via
insertItems - fetch a single record by partition key
- update and delete Catalyst documents
- pick between NoSQL and Data Store before writing code
Example prompts for the agent
- insert a record into nosql.table using NoSQLItem
- show me the fetchItem call for this table
- we have a flexible schema — NoSQL or Data Store?

Questions about catalyst-nosql
How do I install catalyst-nosql in Claude?
Run npx skills add catalystbyzoho/agent-skills --skill catalyst-nosql -a claude-code. The skill lands in ~/.claude/skills/catalyst-nosql/SKILL.md.
What does catalyst-nosql do?
It gives the agent the SDK operations for Catalyst NoSQL tables: insertItems, fetchItem, updateItems, deleteItems, queryTable, plus item construction through NoSQLItem.
How is it different from catalyst-datastore?
NoSQL uses a flexible schema and partition-key access; Data Store uses a fixed schema and ZCQL with joins. On the words "ZCQL", "join" or "relational", the skill tells the agent to load catalyst-datastore.
