build-zoom-rest-api-app · openai — Codex skill: what it does, how to install
Guides code generation for Zoom REST API integrations. It enforces accurate OAuth selection, webhook verification, and rate-limit handling.
npx skills add openai/plugins --skill rest-api -a codexWhat build-zoom-rest-api-app does
This skill provides a systematic process for interacting with Zoom resources, including meetings, recordings, users, webinars, and chat. It forces the coding agent to identify the exact actor and look up required scopes before writing network calls.
Implementation rules target reliability. The agent builds slim wrappers with pagination, retry logic, and rate-limit header parsing. Webhook handling runs through an isolated ingestion flow requiring signature checks and replay protection.
Authentication choices are strictly bounded. User-level OAuth applies to personal resources, account-level OAuth serves admin actions, and server-to-server OAuth is restricted to endpoints explicitly documenting its support.
What it helps with
- build API clients for Zoom meetings and webinars
- select the right scopes and OAuth flow for specific endpoints
- verify webhook signatures and block replayed events
- handle pagination and rate-limit headers in API wrappers
Example prompts for the agent
- Write a client for Zoom meeting creation that handles rate limits and retries
- Set up an endpoint to receive Zoom webhooks with signature verification
- Determine the scopes and OAuth flow needed to download user cloud recordings

Questions about build-zoom-rest-api-app
How to install build-zoom-rest-api-app in Codex?
Run npx skills add openai/plugins --skill rest-api -a codex in your terminal. You can also save the skill definition directly to .agents/skills/rest-api/SKILL.md.
What does build-zoom-rest-api-app do?
It instructs the assistant on calling Zoom REST APIs deterministically, configuring authentication flows, and verifying webhook payloads.
When is server-to-server OAuth permitted?
Use server-to-server OAuth only if the target Zoom API documentation explicitly supports it. User-level resources require standard user OAuth.

--- name: build-zoom-rest-api-app description: Use when calling REST APIs. --- # Build Zoom REST API App Use this skill when the task needs deterministic Zoom API calls or resource management from application code. ## Workflow 1. Define the resource and actor: user, meeting, webinar, recording, docs, chat, phone, account, or admin-level workflow. 2. Select the endpoint and required scopes from the reference files before coding. 3. Confirm auth fit: user-level OAuth for user-owned resources, account-level OAuth for admin workflows, and only use server-to-server OAuth where the target API documents support for it. 4. Implement narrow API wrappers with explicit pagination, retry, idempotency, and rate-limit handling. 5. Treat webhook processing as a separate event-ingestion path with signature verification and replay protection. 6. Debug by checking token audience, missing scopes, resource ownership, account settings, API enablement, and rate-limit headers. ## References - Full preserved guide: [references/full-guide.md](references/full-guide.md) - API architecture: [concepts/api-architecture.md](concepts/api-architecture.md) - Authentication flows: [concepts/authentication-flows.md](concepts/authentication-flows.md) - Rate limits: [references/rate-limits.md](references/rate-limits.md) - Meetings: [references/meetings.md](references/meetings.md) - Recordings: [references/recordings.md](references/recordings.md) - Users: [references/users.md](references/users.md) - Token and scope playbook: [troubleshooting/token-scope-playbook.md](troubleshooting/token-scope-playbook.md)
