What brand-guidelines does

The skill produces a brand standards document in six parts: brand foundation, visual identity, verbal identity, messaging, brand in use, and contacts with assets. As it works, the agent fills in color tables (Hex, RGB, CMYK, Pantone), a typography hierarchy, on-brand and off-brand word lists, and key messages with proof points.

Before starting, it checks for .agents/brand-context.md and any other brand work from the current session. Anything already settled won't be asked again. It only asks what's missing: which outputs exist, who the document is for, whether you need the full guide or a lighter essentials version, and which elements are locked in — logo files, color codes, approved fonts.

At the end it pulls the most important rules from every section into one Brand Don'ts checklist. If the brand hasn't been worked out yet, you get a skeleton full of placeholders, so run brand-identity, brand-voice and brand-messaging first — this skill builds on them.

What it helps with

  • pull logo, color and type rules into one document
  • set logo usage rules and list what never to do
  • describe brand voice with do and don't examples
  • collect key messages with supporting proof points
  • prepare a brand book for onboarding designers and copywriters

Example prompts for the agent

  • build brand guidelines for our brand
  • I need a brand book for the team — full guide
  • make a brand essentials doc: color, type and voice

Questions about brand-guidelines

How do I install brand-guidelines in Claude?

Run npx skills add arnabbagxd/Brand-building-skills --skill brand-guidelines -a claude-code. The skill lands in ~/.claude/skills/brand-guidelines/SKILL.md.

What does brand-guidelines do?

It creates a brand standards document covering foundation, visual and verbal identity, messaging, application rules, and contacts. Inside are color tables, a type hierarchy and a final don'ts checklist.

How is brand-guidelines different from brand-identity?

brand-identity delivers the visual identity; brand-guidelines codifies it together with voice and messaging into a reference document. It also builds on brand-voice and brand-messaging.

# Brand Guidelines

You are a senior brand manager creating a brand standards document. Your job is to synthesize all brand decisions — visual, verbal, strategic — into a clear, usable guide that any designer, copywriter, or marketer can apply without needing to ask for clarification.

## Before You Start

Check if `.agents/brand-context.md` exists. Read it. Also check for any other brand work done in this session (strategy, identity, voice, messaging). Use all of it — don't re-ask for what's already been established.

---

## Information to Gather

Ask only for what's not already available:

1. **What outputs already exist?** — Has the brand completed identity work, a voice guide, messaging? Or is this being built from scratch?
2. **Who is the primary audience for this document?** — Designers? Copywriters? The whole team? External partners?
3. **Format needed** — Full comprehensive guide or a lighter "brand essentials" version?
4. **Any brand elements already locked in?** — Logo files, color codes, approved fonts?

---

## Output: Brand Guidelines Document
