vanta — Claude Code plugin: security and compliance checks
Wires Claude into Vanta through its MCP server, so failing tests, controls and vulnerable assets show up inside the session.
/plugin install vanta@claude-plugins-official
/plugin install vanta-mcp-plugin@claude-plugins-official
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/claude-plugins-officialWhat vanta does
The plugin points Claude at Vanta's hosted MCP endpoint. Claude picks up tools for compliance work: pull the list of failing tests, see which entities fall outside scope, browse controls with their framework mappings, download or upload policy documents, review vendor risk, surface vulnerable assets, and map coverage gaps across SOC 2 and ISO 27001.
Two slash commands ship with it. /vanta:fix-test <test-id or URL> writes IaC changes and opens a pull request; /vanta:list-tests orders failing tests by what your current repository can actually fix. Sign-in runs over OAuth, so there are no keys or tokens to store.
You need the Vanta Admin role — the server does not accept other users yet. Pick your region when connecting: https://mcp.vanta.com/mcp for US, https://mcp.eu.vanta.com/mcp for EU, https://mcp.aus.vanta.com/mcp for Aus.
What it helps with
- find which compliance tests are failing and why
- turn a failing test into IaC changes and a pull request
- browse controls and their framework mappings
- pull policy documents out of the compliance program
- review vendor risk and spot vulnerable assets
Example prompts for the agent
- List the failing tests I can fix from this repo
- Run
/vanta:fix-test <test-id or URL>and open a PR - Which controls map to this test, and what evidence is attached?
