remember — Claude Code plugin: what it does, how to install
Hooks save your Claude sessions, compress them through Haiku into daily summaries, and load the history back into context at session start.

The plugin hooks into the Claude lifecycle. save-session.sh fires during work, a Python script extracts the session, Haiku summarizes it, and the result lands in now.md. From there it compresses in layers: hourly compression produces today-YYYY-MM-DD.md, daily consolidation produces recent.md and archive.md. Each layer is shorter than the one above it, so the whole history fits in a small token budget.
At session start the SessionStart hook injects identity.md, the remember.md handoff note from the previous session, now.md, today's summary, recent.md for the last 7 days, and archive.md. Rotated slices archive-YYYY-MM-DD.md and recent-YYYY-MM-DD.md stay out of context but remain searchable. After a compaction only identity.md is injected again, because the rest was already delivered.
You need Python 3.9+, the Claude CLI with Haiku access, Bash 3.2+, and jq. On Windows there is no run without a POSIX shell in PATH — Git Bash, MSYS2, or WSL. Hooks are read at session start, so restart Claude after installing.
