This plugin connects Claude Code to the CodeScene MCP server. It scores file quality from 1.0 to 10.0, points out code smells, and inspects staged changes prior to commit. For pull requests, it evaluates branch diffs to spot deteriorating patterns early.
The tools run in standalone mode or hook directly into CodeScene Cloud and on-premise setups. A server connection reveals project hotspots and developer ownership maps for routing reviews. Authentication works through browser-based OAuth or personal access tokens.
Local Node.js is required so npx can launch the MCP server binary. Keep in mind that an active personal access token in your configuration disables OAuth until you remove that PAT.
What it helps with
- prevent code quality regressions in staged files prior to committing
- measure a file's numeric Code Health score from 1.0 to 10.0
- map project-level hotspots and targets for refactoring
- discover file owners to route code reviews effectively
