## What it does

This skill lets your agent inspect and manage Zoho CRM modules like leads, contacts, deals, tasks, and notes. The agent searches records, creates new entries, and converts leads directly through Membrane actions. If a prebuilt action is missing, the tool routes requests directly to the Zoho CRM API endpoint with `membrane request`.

Under the hood, all requests run through the `@membranehq/cli` tool. Membrane handles credential refresh and authentication automatically. That removes the need to store and rotate raw API tokens in the agent context.

The setup depends on network access and an active Membrane account. Without completing authentication via `membrane login`, the CLI cannot access the CRM connection.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill zoho-crm -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/zoho-crm/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/zoho-crm/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill zoho-crm -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/zoho-crm/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill zoho-crm -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/zoho-crm/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install membranedev/application-skills zoho-crm
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/zoho-crm/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill zoho-crm -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/membranedev/application-skills --path skills/zoho-crm
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/zoho-crm/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add membranedev/application-skills --skill zoho-crm -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/membranedev/application-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/zoho-crm/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- retrieve and update contact or deal records in Zoho CRM
- convert incoming leads into contacts and deals
- create notes and attach them to CRM entities
- execute COQL queries across Zoho CRM modules

## Example prompts
- Find the contact in Zoho CRM by name and update the status.
- Convert this lead into a contact and open a deal.
- Fetch recent notes linked to this deal in Zoho CRM.

# Zoho CRM

Zoho CRM is a customer relationship management platform used by sales, marketing, and customer support teams. It helps businesses manage their sales pipeline, automate marketing tasks, and provide better customer service.

## Working with Zoho CRM

This skill uses the Membrane CLI to interact with Zoho CRM. Membrane handles authentication and credentials refresh automatically — so you can focus on the integration logic rather than auth plumbing.

### Install the CLI

Install the Membrane CLI so you can run `membrane` from the terminal:

```bash
npm install -g @membranehq/cli@latest
```

### Authentication

```bash
membrane login --tenant --clientName=<agentType>
```

This will either open a browser for authentication or print an authorization URL to the console, depending on whether interactive mode is available.

**Headless environments:** The command will print an authorization URL. Ask the user to open it in a browser. When they see a code after completing login, finish with:

```bash
membrane login complete <code>
```

Add `--json` to any command for machine-readable JSON output.

**Agent Types** : claude, openclaw, codex, warp, windsurf, etc. Those will be used to adjust tooling to be used best with your harness

### Connecting to Zoho CRM

Use `membrane connection ensure` to find or create a connection by app URL or domain:

```bash
membrane connection ensure "https://www.zoho.com/crm" --json
```
The user completes authentication in the browser. The output contains the new connection id.

This is the fastest way to get a connection. The URL is normalized to a domain and matched against known apps. If no app is found, one is created and a connector is built automatically.

If the returned connection has `state: "READY"`, skip to **Step 2**.

#### 1b. Wait for the connection to be ready

If the connection is in `BUILDING` state, poll until it's ready:

```bash
npx @membranehq/cli connection get <id> --wait --json
```

The `--wait` flag long-polls (up to `--timeout` seconds, default 30) until the state changes. Keep polling until `state` is no longer `BUILDING`.

The resulting state tells you what to do next:

- **`READY`** — connection is fully set up. Skip to **Step 2**.
- **`CLIENT_ACTION_REQUIRED`** — the user or agent needs to do something. The `clientAction` object describes the required action:
  - `clientAction.type` — the kind of action needed:
