## What it does

The skill kicks in whenever a YouTube playlist is part of the task — you pasted a link or ID, asked to list the videos, or want to work through a course or series and collect transcripts. It talks to TranscriptAPI, so it needs a `TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY` starting with `sk_`. When the variable is missing, the skill points you to `references/auth-setup.md` to get and store one.

Two endpoints do the work. `GET /api/v2/youtube/playlist/videos` returns 100 videos per page; you follow `continuation_token` until `has_more` turns `false`. It takes a playlist URL or an ID with a `PL`, `UU`, `LL`, `FL` or `OL` prefix. The second endpoint fetches a transcript for a single video. No playlist ID yet? List the channel's playlists first via `channel/playlists`.

Every request carries two headers: `Authorization: Bearer $TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY` and a `User-Agent` naming your agent. Skip the second one and Cloudflare answers 403 with error code 1010 — that is where most failed calls come from. A page costs 1 credit, and the free tier hands out 100. Creating playlists or managing an account is outside the skill's scope.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-playlist -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/youtube-playlist/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/youtube-playlist/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-playlist -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/youtube-playlist/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-playlist -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/youtube-playlist/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills youtube-playlist
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/youtube-playlist/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-playlist -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --path clawhub/youtube-playlist
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/youtube-playlist/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-playlist -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills/tree/HEAD/clawhub/youtube-playlist/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- list every video in a playlist with titles and durations
- pull transcripts from a course or series
- recover a playlist ID when only a URL is at hand
- page through a playlist with more than a hundred videos
- gather source material from someone else's collection

## Example prompts
- Here's the playlist link, list all the videos in order
- Pull the transcripts from this playlist into one file
- Show me the playlists on the @TED channel, then we'll go through one

# YouTube Playlist

Browse playlists and fetch transcripts via [TranscriptAPI.com](https://transcriptapi.com).

## Setup

If `$TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY` is not set, read [references/auth-setup.md](references/auth-setup.md) and follow the instructions there to get and store the key.

## Required Headers

Every request needs two headers:

- **Authorization:** `Bearer $TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY`
- **User-Agent:** your agent's name and version if known (e.g. `HermesAgent/0.11.0`, `ClaudeCode/1.0`). Version is optional — agent name alone is fine. Do not omit this header or send a bare default — Cloudflare will return a 403 (error code 1010) and block the request.
