## What it does

This skill uses TranscriptAPI to work with YouTube channels. It accepts an `@handle`, a channel URL, or a `UC...` ID, resolves them to a canonical channel ID, fetches the latest 15 videos through RSS, and reads a channel feed page by page.

You can select uploads, Shorts, or streams. The videos tab can be ordered by latest, popular, or oldest items; keep the same `tab` and `sort` while following continuation pages. Sorted results contain about 30 videos per page, while an unsorted feed has about 100. Each page costs 1 credit.

Internet access and `TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY` are required for every API request. A `User-Agent` header is mandatory too: Cloudflare returns 403 with error code 1010 when it is missing, so check the agent configuration before using the skill.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-channels -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/youtube-channels/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/youtube-channels/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-channels -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/youtube-channels/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-channels -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/youtube-channels/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills youtube-channels
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/youtube-channels/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-channels -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --path clawhub/youtube-channels
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/youtube-channels/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills --skill youtube-channels -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/ZeroPointRepo/youtube-skills/tree/HEAD/clawhub/youtube-channels/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- resolve a handle or URL to a channel ID
- list a channel's latest 15 videos
- find a creator's popular uploads
- retrieve Shorts or stream feeds
- page through channel uploads

## Example prompts
- "Show the latest videos from @TED."
- "Find the most popular uploads on @NASA."
- "List Shorts from this YouTube channel URL."

# YouTube Channels

YouTube channel tools via [TranscriptAPI.com](https://transcriptapi.com).

## Setup

If `$TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY` is not set, read [references/auth-setup.md](references/auth-setup.md) and follow the instructions there to get and store the key.

## Required Headers

Every request needs two headers:

- **Authorization:** `Bearer $TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY`
- **User-Agent:** your agent's name and version if known (e.g. `HermesAgent/0.11.0`, `ClaudeCode/1.0`). Version is optional — agent name alone is fine. Do not omit this header or send a bare default — Cloudflare will return a 403 (error code 1010) and block the request.

## API Reference

Full OpenAPI spec: [transcriptapi.com/openapi.json](https://transcriptapi.com/openapi.json) — consult this for the latest parameters and schemas.

All channel endpoints accept flexible input — `@handle`, channel URL, or `UC...` channel ID. No need to resolve first.

## GET /api/v2/youtube/channel/resolve — FREE

Convert @handle, URL, or UC... ID to canonical channel ID.

```bash
curl -s "https://transcriptapi.com/api/v2/youtube/channel/resolve?input=@TED" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY" \
  -H "User-Agent: YourAgent/1.0"
```

| Param   | Required | Validation                              |
| ------- | -------- | --------------------------------------- |
| `input` | yes      | 1-200 chars — @handle, URL, or UC... ID |

**Response:**

```json
{ "channel_id": "UCsT0YIqwnpJCM-mx7-gSA4Q", "resolved_from": "@TED" }
```

If input is already `UC[a-zA-Z0-9_-]{22}`, returns immediately.

## GET /api/v2/youtube/channel/latest — FREE

Latest 15 videos via RSS with exact stats.

```bash
curl -s "https://transcriptapi.com/api/v2/youtube/channel/latest?channel=@TED" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY" \
  -H "User-Agent: YourAgent/1.0"
```
