A skill for channel automation: video upload and scheduling, metadata, analytics, comment handling. Useful when you run a channel and want the agent to take the routine.

## What it does

The skill lays out a publishing flow: video file, title, description and tags, thumbnail upload, scheduled release, subscriber notifications. Inside are YAML templates for the upload config with privacy, monetization and publish time, plus thumbnail specs — 1280x720, 16:9, PNG or JPG, up to 2MB.

SEO gets its own section. Title formulas, tag order from exact match to long tail, description structure with a hook in the first 150 characters. There is an analytics dashboard covering retention, CTR, traffic sources and revenue, a weekly publishing calendar, and a batch production workflow. Comment rules map keywords to auto-replies.

It needs the `youtube-mcp` MCP server with `youtube_upload`, `youtube_update`, `youtube_analytics` and `youtube_comments`. Without it the skill is a pile of templates — the agent can neither push a video nor pull stats. Worth checking the server is wired up before you bring the skill into a project.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill youtube-automation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/youtube-automation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/youtube-automation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill youtube-automation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/youtube-automation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill youtube-automation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/youtube-automation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills youtube-automation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/youtube-automation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill youtube-automation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path youtube-automation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/youtube-automation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill youtube-automation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/youtube-automation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- assemble upload metadata: title, description, tags
- set a publish time and subscriber notifications
- order tags from exact match down to long tail
- roll channel metrics for a period into one report
- route common comment keywords to auto-replies

## Example prompts
- Prepare metadata for a new video: title, description with timestamps, tags around Python
- Pull channel analytics for the last 28 days: views, retention, traffic sources
- Build a publishing calendar for the week with video types and release times
