## What it does

The skill turns recurring workflows, scripts, and procedures into structured agent skills. It keeps files lean by storing core guidelines in `references/`, executable scripts in `scripts/`, and test results in `reports/`. You choose between four operating modes: `Scaffold`, `Production`, `Library`, and `Governed`.

It skips one-off prompts, summaries, and translations. Skill creation requires repeated use alongside a reusable output contract. Route testing relies on `trigger_eval.py`, while package maintenance runs through `scripts/yao.py`.

Self-modification requires the explicit `--self` flag. Without it, safety boundaries lock file writes. In governed packages, unavailable telemetry or metrics cannot be fabricated and must be marked as `missing evidence`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaojingang/yao-meta-skill --skill yao-meta-skill -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/yao-meta-skill/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/yao-meta-skill/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaojingang/yao-meta-skill --skill yao-meta-skill -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/yao-meta-skill/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaojingang/yao-meta-skill --skill yao-meta-skill -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/yao-meta-skill/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install yaojingang/yao-meta-skill yao-meta-skill
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/yao-meta-skill/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaojingang/yao-meta-skill --skill yao-meta-skill -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/yaojingang/yao-meta-skill
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/yao-meta-skill/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaojingang/yao-meta-skill --skill yao-meta-skill -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

## When to use it
- convert standard operating procedures and scripts into structured skills
- test trigger routing and description matching with `trigger_eval.py`
- audit existing skill files and enforce output contracts
- package governed skills with verified trust reports and scorecards

## Example prompts
- Create a new skill from this deployment workflow in Scaffold mode
- Evaluate trigger routing for the current skill using trigger_eval.py
- Run scripts/yao.py self-update --self --yes to upgrade the meta skill

# Yao Meta Skill

## Router Rules

- Route by frontmatter `description` using the lightest mode.
- Keep `SKILL.md` lean: guidance in `references/`, logic in `scripts/`, evidence in `reports/`.

## Modes

- `Scaffold`: exploratory; `Production`: team; `Library`: shared; `Governed`: release-critical.
- Rules: [Method](references/skill-engineering-method.md), [Modes](references/operating-modes.md), [Boundaries](references/resource-boundaries.md).

## Compact Workflow

1. Require `repeated use` + `reusable output contract`; skip one-offs.
2. Lock target path + identity before writes; self-edits require `--self`.
3. Capture job, output, exclusions, constraints, standards, mode.
4. Scan `3-5` useful external/user/local references.
5. Write `description` early; route edits need `trigger_eval.py`; release gates follow risk.
6. Add deeper profiles only when earned.

Playbooks: [Target Safety](references/target-safety.md), [Intent](references/intent-dialogue.md), [Skill IR](references/skill-ir-method.md), [Output Eval](references/output-eval-method.md), [Review Studio](references/review-studio-method.md).

## Updates

Activation: `scripts/yao.py check-update --notice --self`; show `notice_text` if requested; continue. “更新”: `scripts/yao.py self-update --self --yes`.

## Skill OS 2.0 Gates

For production/library/governed releases, run Skill IR, compiler, trigger/output eval, Atlas, conformance, trust, package/install, upgrade, drift, waiver, Review Studio.

## Governed Package Boundary

Governed/file-backed packages: label `input_files` a `file-backed fixture`; include `owner`, `review cadence`, `output contract`, `rollback boundary`; require `trust report` and `reports/output_quality_scorecard.md`; mark unavailable telemetry/approvals/metrics/benchmarks as `missing evidence`; never fabricate evidence.

Preserve labels literally when they apply: `file-backed fixture`, `input_files`, `output contract`, `rollback boundary`, `trust report`, `reports/output_quality_scorecard.md`, `missing evidence`.

## First-Turn Style

- Infer non-core gaps; ask one core-fork question per round, max two, then use recorded preferred inference.
- In Chinese, sound soft and companion-like; use [Intent Dialogue](references/intent-dialogue.md).

## Output Contract

Builds: `SKILL.md`, aligned interface, justified assets, boundary/gate summary. Audits: findings + fixes; edit only when asked. No-skill: no files.
