## What it does

The skill’s guides cover element queries, gestures, assertions, waits, screenshots, launch settings, and permission prompts. There are also notes on Swift 6 concurrency, reusable test helpers, troubleshooting, and test organization.

Its contents include topic-specific Markdown guides and local XCTest and XCUIAutomation documentation. Ask the agent about a particular API or test scenario to find relevant guidance. For Swift 6 test setup, check the concurrency guide: it discusses `@MainActor` test classes and asynchronous `setUp` and `tearDown`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Prisma-Labs-Dev/apple-skills --skill xcuitest -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/xcuitest/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/xcuitest/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Prisma-Labs-Dev/apple-skills --skill xcuitest -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/xcuitest/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Prisma-Labs-Dev/apple-skills --skill xcuitest -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/xcuitest/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Prisma-Labs-Dev/apple-skills xcuitest
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/xcuitest/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Prisma-Labs-Dev/apple-skills --skill xcuitest -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Prisma-Labs-Dev/apple-skills --path skills/xcuitest
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/xcuitest/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Prisma-Labs-Dev/apple-skills --skill xcuitest -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

## When to use it
- find a query for a UI element
- choose a wait for an element or property change
- write an assertion for a UI test
- diagnose a test that cannot find an element
- configure launch arguments for a test

## Example prompts
- Show me how to wait for a button to appear in XCUITest.
- Explain how to test a system permission alert.
- How can I pass launch arguments and test localization in a UI test?

# XCUITest Reference

Comprehensive reference for writing reliable XCUITest UI tests in Swift 6.

## Quick Reference

```swift
// Basic test structure
@MainActor
final class MyUITests: XCTestCase {
    var app: XCUIApplication!
    override func setUp() {
        super.setUp()
        continueAfterFailure = false
        app = XCUIApplication()
        app.launch()
    }
    func testExample() {
        let button = app.buttons["Submit"]
        XCTAssertTrue(button.waitForExistence(timeout: 5))
        button.tap()
    }
}
```
