# worldlabs

Turns a text prompt or a reference image into a photorealistic 3D environment through the World Labs Marble API. Handy when a game needs a level or a location.

## What it does

The skill produces a full scene: a Gaussian Splat in `.spz`, a collider mesh in `.glb` for physics, and a panorama for the skybox. Rendering is handled by SparkJS 2.x together with Three.js. Under the hood sits `scripts/worldlabs-generate.mjs`, a zero-dependency CLI that covers text-to-world, image-to-world, generation status checks, asset downloads and a list of your worlds.

The author recommends starting from an image. If you have a photo, concept art or screenshot, `--mode image` gives more predictable output because the model follows the reference's layout, lighting and mood. Text mode is the fallback: the API expands a short prompt into a scene description, but the result is harder to steer. You need a World Labs key in the `WORLDLABS_API_KEY` variable; the skill checks `.env` first and only then asks you for it.

There is a catch with Three.js. Spark 2.0 declares `three@^0.180.0` as its peer dependency, and a newer Three minor breaks `npm install` with an `ERESOLVE` error. That is why projects pin `three` to `^0.180.0` — the `threejs-3d` template and the `worldlabs-arcade` example both do. Create the renderer with `antialias: false` as well: Spark's splat shader already anti-aliases, so layering MSAA on top just burns GPU time.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill worldlabs -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/worldlabs/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/worldlabs/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill worldlabs -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/worldlabs/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill worldlabs -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/worldlabs/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install PlayableIntelligence/game-creator worldlabs
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/worldlabs/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill worldlabs -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --path skills/worldlabs
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/worldlabs/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add PlayableIntelligence/game-creator --skill worldlabs -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/PlayableIntelligence/game-creator/tree/HEAD/skills/worldlabs/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- generate a game level from concept art
- get a photorealistic environment from a text description
- export a Gaussian Splat in three resolutions for desktop and mobile
- attach a collider mesh to a scene for physics
- pull existing world assets by ID

## Example prompts
- generate a 3D world: a medieval tavern with wooden beams and a roaring fireplace
- make an environment from this reference ./concept.jpg
- check the status of my world generation

# World Labs — 3D World/Environment Generation

Generate photorealistic 3D environments from text prompts or images using the World Labs Marble API. Outputs Gaussian Splat scenes (SPZ) rendered via SparkJS in Three.js, plus collider meshes (GLB) for physics.

## When to Use

- **Environment/level generation** — create entire 3D worlds (rooms, landscapes, buildings) from reference images or text
- **Complementary to Meshy AI** — Meshy generates individual models/characters; World Labs generates the environments they exist in
- **Photorealistic scenes** — Gaussian Splats produce photorealistic quality vs mesh-based environments

## Input Priority

**Image-first** — always prefer image input over text:

1. **Image mode (default)** — if the user has a reference image, concept art, screenshot, or photo, use `--mode image`. This produces the most faithful results because the AI can match the exact visual style, layout, lighting, and mood.
2. **Text mode (fallback)** — only use `--mode text` when no reference image is available. The API auto-expands short prompts into rich scene descriptions, but results are less predictable than image-driven generation.

When the game-creator pipeline runs, **ask the user for a reference image first**:

> I can generate a photorealistic 3D environment for your game using World Labs.
> Do you have a reference image (photo, concept art, screenshot) for the environment?
> - **Yes** → provide the file path or URL
> - **No** → I'll generate from a text description instead
