## What it does

The skill provides a playbook for reviewing the current user context, group membership, token privileges, services, scheduled tasks, installed patches, network connections, and stored credentials. It links particular Windows privileges to relevant escalation paths.

Its material covers token abuse, the Potato family, service configuration flaws, DLL hijacking, AlwaysInstallElevated, registry autoruns, and named-pipe impersonation. Some paths depend on Windows version or prerequisites such as `SeImpersonatePrivilege` and the Print Spooler service.

It assumes a low-privilege Windows shell already exists. That is a reason to confirm the authorized test scope before running checks.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-privilege-escalation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/windows-privilege-escalation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/windows-privilege-escalation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-privilege-escalation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/windows-privilege-escalation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-privilege-escalation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/windows-privilege-escalation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install yaklang/hack-skills windows-privilege-escalation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/windows-privilege-escalation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-privilege-escalation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/yaklang/hack-skills --path skills/windows-privilege-escalation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/windows-privilege-escalation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-privilege-escalation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/yaklang/hack-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/windows-privilege-escalation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- inspect Windows token privileges
- identify services with unsafe paths or permissions
- review scheduled tasks for writable files
- check AlwaysInstallElevated policies
- look for DLL hijacking opportunities

## Example prompts
- Run an authorized Windows privilege-escalation review and begin with `whoami /all` and `whoami /priv`.
- Review services and scheduled tasks for unsafe permissions on an approved Windows test system.
- Match the token privileges I found to the skill's constraints for a training lab.

# SKILL: Windows Local Privilege Escalation — Expert Attack Playbook

> **AI LOAD INSTRUCTION**: Expert Windows privesc techniques. Covers token manipulation, Potato family, service misconfigurations, DLL hijacking, AlwaysInstallElevated, scheduled task abuse, registry autoruns, and named pipe impersonation. Base models miss nuanced privilege prerequisites and OS-version-specific constraints.

Before going deep, consider loading:

- [active-directory-acl-abuse](../active-directory-acl-abuse/SKILL.md) for domain privilege escalation via ACL misconfigurations

### Advanced Reference

Also load [TOKEN_POTATO_TRICKS.md](./TOKEN_POTATO_TRICKS.md) when you need:

- OS-version-specific exploit selection
- Required privileges and protocol details per variant

Also load [UAC_BYPASS_METHODS.md](./UAC_BYPASS_METHODS.md) when you need:
- UAC bypass technique matrix (fodhelper, eventvwr, sdclt, etc.)
- Auto-elevate binary abuse

## 1. ENUMERATION CHECKLIST

### System Context

```cmd
whoami /all                        & REM Current user, groups, privileges
systeminfo                         & REM OS version, hotfixes, architecture
hostname                           & REM Machine name
net user %USERNAME%                & REM Group memberships
```

### Token Privileges (Critical)

```cmd
whoami /priv
```

| Privilege | Escalation Path |
|---|---|
| `SeImpersonatePrivilege` | Potato family exploits (§2) |
| `SeAssignPrimaryTokenPrivilege` | Token manipulation, Potato variants |
| `SeDebugPrivilege` | Dump LSASS, inject into SYSTEM processes |
| `SeBackupPrivilege` | Read any file (SAM/SYSTEM/NTDS.dit) |
| `SeRestorePrivilege` | Write any file (DLL hijack, service binary) |
| `SeTakeOwnershipPrivilege` | Take ownership of any object |
| `SeLoadDriverPrivilege` | Load vulnerable kernel driver → kernel exploit |

### Services & Scheduled Tasks

```cmd
sc query state= all                & REM All services
wmic service get name,displayname,pathname,startmode | findstr /i "auto"
````
