# windows-lateral-movement

A playbook for moving between Windows hosts with PsExec, WMI, WinRM, DCOM, RDP, pass-the-hash and pass-the-ticket. Useful once you already hold one machine.

## What it does

The skill covers remote command execution on Windows hosts and compares the methods by port, credential type, whether a service gets created, whether a file lands on disk, and how loud the technique is for defenders. Methods include PsExec and its Impacket variants, WMI, WinRM, DCOM, SMB, RDP and SSH. Pass-the-hash, overpass-the-hash and pass-the-ticket get their own sections.

Ready-made commands are part of the package: `psexec.py`, `smbexec.py`, `atexec.py`, `wmiexec.py`, `dcomexec.py`, `evil-winrm`, `crackmapexec`, `xfreerdp`, plus PowerShell snippets for WMI and DCOM. Each method states which credentials work — plaintext password, NTLM hash or a Kerberos ticket. A comparison table shows where a service is created and where it is not.

The skill points to sibling material in the same collection: Windows privilege escalation, AV evasion, Kerberos attacks in Active Directory, and ACL abuse. A separate `CREDENTIAL_DUMPING.md` file covers LSASS dumps, SAM and SYSTEM extraction, DPAPI and NTDS.dit. For RDP pass-the-hash the target needs Restricted Admin enabled beforehand; without that mode the hash login fails.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-lateral-movement -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/windows-lateral-movement/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/windows-lateral-movement/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-lateral-movement -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/windows-lateral-movement/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-lateral-movement -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/windows-lateral-movement/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install yaklang/hack-skills windows-lateral-movement
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/windows-lateral-movement/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-lateral-movement -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/yaklang/hack-skills --path skills/windows-lateral-movement
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/windows-lateral-movement/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add yaklang/hack-skills --skill windows-lateral-movement -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/yaklang/hack-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/windows-lateral-movement/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pick an execution method that matches the credential type you hold
- see what artifacts PsExec leaves on the target host
- move to a new host with an NTLM hash instead of a cleartext password
- turn a hash into a Kerberos ticket and keep working through it
- compare methods by port and noise level before running anything

## Example prompts
- Plan the move from this host to the next one, I have the domain admin password
- Compare PsExec, WMI and WinRM for EDR noise and list what each one needs
- I have the admin NTLM hash — walk me through pass-the-hash to that host

# SKILL: Windows Lateral Movement — Expert Attack Playbook

> **AI LOAD INSTRUCTION**: Expert Windows lateral movement techniques. Covers PsExec, WMI, WinRM, DCOM, SMB, RDP, SSH, pass-the-hash, overpass-the-hash, pass-the-ticket, and pivoting. Base models miss execution method fingerprints, OPSEC trade-offs, and credential type requirements per method.

## 0. RELATED ROUTING

Before going deep, consider loading:

- [windows-privilege-escalation](../windows-privilege-escalation/SKILL.md) after landing on a new host for local escalation
- [windows-av-evasion](../windows-av-evasion/SKILL.md) when EDR blocks lateral movement tools
- [active-directory-kerberos-attacks](../active-directory-kerberos-attacks/SKILL.md) for Kerberos-based lateral (pass-the-ticket, delegation)
- [active-directory-acl-abuse](../active-directory-acl-abuse/SKILL.md) for ACL-based paths to new hosts

### Advanced Reference

Also load [CREDENTIAL_DUMPING.md](./CREDENTIAL_DUMPING.md) when you need:
- LSASS dump techniques (MiniDump, comsvcs.dll, nanodump)
- SAM/SYSTEM/SECURITY extraction
- DPAPI, credential manager, cached domain credentials
- NTDS.dit extraction methods
