## What it does

This skill handles website structure planning: which pages you need, what to build first, and how page hierarchy shapes navigation, crawlability and how search engines read content importance. It opens with an assessment of project context — site type, stage, growth strategy, and constraints around team, budget and stack.

Pages then get sorted by priority. Must Have covers home, product, pricing, blog, about, privacy, terms and contact. Great to Have adds testimonials, FAQ, an HTML sitemap, 404 and refunds. Optional and traffic-driven sections such as category pages sit further down. A generic template maps typical paths: root, tools, resources, partnership, legal, competitor and standalone nodes like `/docs`, `/api`, `/status`, each paired with a matching page generator.

The workflow runs in seven steps: pick a template, trim irrelevant modules, add your own sections, assign URLs, export a list of page type plus URL plus priority, match page types to services, then iterate as the site grows. The skill advises planning structure early, right after buying the domain, and keeping any page within four clicks of the homepage. Multiple products or brands are a different job — this one stays inside a single domain. A specific template such as a homepage or landing page needs `homepage-generator` or `landing-page-generator`, and an SEO roadmap alone belongs to `seo-strategy`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill website-structure -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/website-structure/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/website-structure/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill website-structure -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/website-structure/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kostja94/marketing-skills --skill website-structure -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install kostja94/marketing-skills website-structure
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**

```
### Claude.ai
**Claude.ai**
## When to use it
- figure out which pages a new site actually needs
- rank pages by priority for the development schedule
- export a page type, URL and priority list for the team
- audit an existing site for missing essential pages
- separate features pages from use-case pages so content does not overlap
## Example prompts
- Plan the site structure for our SaaS: which pages do we need and what comes first
- Audit our existing site structure and tell me which pages are missing
- Give me a page list with URLs and priorities for the dev schedule
For a specific page template (e.g. homepage), use homepage-generator or landing-page-generator as appropriate. Not for organic SEO roadmap alone; use seo-strategy.
# Strategy: Website Structure
Guides website structure planning: which pages to build, page priority, and how structure supports UX, SEO, and growth. Structure is the organization and connection of pages; it affects user navigation, Google's understanding of content importance, crawlability, and sitelinks in SERPs. See **serp-features** for sitelinks and SERP optimization.
**When invoking**: On **first use**, if helpful, open with 1–2 sentences on what this skill covers and why it matters, then provide the main output. On **subsequent use** or when the user asks to skip, go directly to the main output.
## Initial Assessment
**Project context:** Read root `contextus.md` when present and load only the modules relevant to this task. Without Contextus, use available project material or user-provided facts and ask for missing information; do not create a parallel context system.
Identify:
1. **Website type**: Product/SaaS, B2B, E-commerce, Portfolio, Forum, Directory
2. **Stage**: New site (plan from scratch) vs. existing (extend or audit)
3. **Growth strategy**: Affiliate, education, multi-language, community, B2B, developer
4. **Constraints**: Team size, budget, tech stack
## Page Priority Framework
Plan pages by priority for development scheduling. See [skills-reference §2 Page Taxonomy](../../../docs/skills-reference.md#2-page-taxonomy) for full page types and website-type mapping.
