# Webhook Automation

A skill for building webhook integrations: receiving events, verifying signatures, routing and transforming payloads. Useful when payments, GitHub or Slack need to talk to your own services.

## What it does

The skill lays out the webhook flow: a source system posts an event to an endpoint, handler logic runs, then a chain of actions fires. It covers incoming and outgoing webhooks, endpoint examples with HMAC-SHA256 signature verification, and error responses by status code.

Event routing gets its own section. A router maps event types (`payment.succeeded`, `customer.created`, `subscription.cancelled`) to a handler plus a list of actions, and anything unmatched goes to a log. For data transformation there are mappings such as `stripe_to_internal` and `github_to_slack`, including converting an amount from cents to dollars and a message template.

Worked examples ship for Stripe, GitHub and Slack. The skill relies on the `integration-mcp` MCP server with the `webhook_create`, `webhook_receive`, `http_request` and `transform_data` tools — tool calls fail without it. Secrets in the configs come from environment variables (`WEBHOOK_SECRET`, `STRIPE_WEBHOOK_SECRET`, `GITHUB_WEBHOOK_SECRET`), so set them before the handler starts.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill webhook-automation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/webhook-automation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/webhook-automation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill webhook-automation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/webhook-automation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill webhook-automation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/webhook-automation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills webhook-automation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/webhook-automation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill webhook-automation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path webhook-automation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/webhook-automation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill webhook-automation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/webhook-automation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- receive a Stripe event and update the order status
- verify an incoming webhook signature before processing
- route events to handlers through a router
- map Stripe payload fields onto an internal order model
- post a Slack notification about a new pull request

## Example prompts
- set up a Stripe webhook endpoint with signature verification
- add a route for the customer.created event with three actions
- write a mapping from github_webhook to a Slack message

# Webhook Automation

Comprehensive skill for building webhook-based integrations and real-time event processing.

## Core Concepts

### Webhook Architecture

```
WEBHOOK FLOW:
┌─────────────┐     ┌─────────────┐     ┌─────────────┐
│   Source    │────▶│   Webhook   │────▶│   Handler   │
│   System    │     │   Endpoint  │     │   Logic     │
└─────────────┘     └─────────────┘     └──────┬──────┘
                                               │
                    ┌──────────────────────────┼───────┐
                    │                          │       │
                    ▼                          ▼       ▼
              ┌──────────┐              ┌──────────┐ ┌──────────┐
              │  Action  │              │  Action  │ │  Action  │
              │    A     │              │    B     │ │    C     │
              └──────────┘              └──────────┘ └──────────┘
```

### Webhook Types

```yaml
webhook_types:
  incoming:
    description: "Receive events from external services"
    use_cases:
      - Payment notifications (Stripe, PayPal)
      - Form submissions
      - CRM updates
      - CI/CD events
  outgoing:
    description: "Send events to external services"
    use_cases:
