## What it does

The skill walks the agent through collection setup: first `data_sites_tool` fetches the site list and plan limits, then `data_cms_tool` checks for name conflicts and creates the collection with specified fields — static (`PlainText`, `RichText`, `Image`, `DateTime`), options (`Option`), and relationships (`Reference`, `MultiReference`). Every Webflow MCP tool call requires a `context` parameter (15–25 words, third person). Schema is validated before creation: field types, dependency order (collections that are referenced must be created first), and the five-`MultiReference` limit per collection are all checked.

At the end, `get_collection_details` confirms the collection and all fields were created. The agent suggests adding items via `bulk-cms-update` and setting up collection pages in Designer.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add webflow/webflow-skills --skill webflow-mcp:cms-collection-setup -a claude-code
```
```bash
npx skills add webflow/webflow-skills --skill cms-collection-setup -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/cms-collection-setup/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/cms-collection-setup/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add webflow/webflow-skills --skill cms-collection-setup -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/cms-collection-setup/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add webflow/webflow-skills --skill cms-collection-setup -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/cms-collection-setup/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install webflow/webflow-skills cms-collection-setup
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/cms-collection-setup/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add webflow/webflow-skills --skill cms-collection-setup -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/webflow/webflow-skills --path plugins/webflow-skills/skills/cms-collection-setup
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/cms-collection-setup/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add webflow/webflow-skills --skill cms-collection-setup -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- Create a blog collection with author, publish date, and featured image fields
- Set up a product collection with gallery, price, and reference to categories
- Check Webflow plan limits before adding a new collection
- Create `Reference` and `MultiReference` fields to link collections
- Validate CMS collection schema before creating it in Webflow

## Example prompts
- Create a CMS collection "Team" with fields `Name` (`PlainText`), `Role` (`PlainText`), `Photo` (`Image`), and `Bio` (`RichText`)
- Set up a "Portfolio" collection with a `MultiReference` link to the "Clients" collection and a `Completion Date` (`DateTime`) field
- Check my Webflow site limits and create a product collection with gallery and price

## Important Note

**ALWAYS use Webflow MCP tools for all operations:**
- Use Webflow MCP's `webflow_guide_tool` to get best practices before starting
- Use Webflow MCP's `data_sites_tool` with action `list_sites` to identify available sites
- Use Webflow MCP's `data_sites_tool` with action `get_site` to retrieve site details and plan limits
- Use Webflow MCP's `data_cms_tool` with action `get_collection_list` to check for naming conflicts
- Use Webflow MCP's `data_cms_tool` with action `create_collection` to create the collection
- Use Webflow MCP's `data_cms_tool` with action `create_collection_static_field` to create static fields
- Use Webflow MCP's `data_cms_tool` with action `create_collection_option_field` to create option fields
- Use Webflow MCP's `data_cms_tool` with action `create_collection_reference_field` to create reference/multi-reference fields
- Use Webflow MCP's `data_cms_tool` with action `get_collection_details` to verify collection was created correctly
- DO NOT use any other tools or methods for Webflow operations
- All tool calls must include the required `context` parameter (15-25 words, third-person perspective)

## Instructions

### Phase 1: Site Selection & Discovery
1. **Get site information**: Use Webflow MCP's `data_sites_tool` with action `list_sites` to identify target site
2. **Confirm site**: Ask user to select site if multiple available
3. **Check plan limits**: Use Webflow MCP's `data_sites_tool` with action `get_site` to verify collection limits
4. **List existing collections**: Use Webflow MCP's `data_cms_tool` with action `get_collection_list` to check for conflicts
5. **Validate naming**: Ensure new collection name doesn't conflict with existing

### Phase 2: Requirements Gathering
6. **Get collection details**: Ask user for:
   - Collection display name (e.g., "Blog Posts")
