## What it does

The skill works in phases. It starts with an audit: framework and version, build output directory, server-only pieces like SSR and API routes, auth with cookies or tokens, OAuth redirect URIs, what the app sells, which native capabilities the product needs, offline expectations, and links that should open the app. You get that inventory before anything changes.

Then come the static build, the Capacitor shell, native UX and plugins. The shell steps are plain commands: `npx cap init`, `npx cap add ios`, `npx cap add android`, `npm run build && npx cap sync`. It recommends Capacitor 8.5+ because that line ships the iOS UIScene lifecycle Xcode 27 requires; Capacitor 9 sits on the `next` tag only. New iOS projects use SPM by default, and the skill says keep it.

The hard part is store policy, not the wrapper. Cookies and `localStorage` from the website do not carry over, since the app origin is new, so plan a fresh login. Digital goods and subscriptions consumed in the app need Apple IAP or Google Play Billing unless a specific exemption applies. Account creation in the app means you must offer in-app account deletion. This is not the skill for framework build config alone, Cordova projects, or final store submission — those have their own skills.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Cap-go/capgo-skills --skill webapp-to-capacitor -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/webapp-to-capacitor/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/webapp-to-capacitor/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Cap-go/capgo-skills --skill webapp-to-capacitor -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/webapp-to-capacitor/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Cap-go/capgo-skills --skill webapp-to-capacitor -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/webapp-to-capacitor/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Cap-go/capgo-skills webapp-to-capacitor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/webapp-to-capacitor/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Cap-go/capgo-skills --skill webapp-to-capacitor -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Cap-go/capgo-skills --path skills/webapp-to-capacitor
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/webapp-to-capacitor/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Cap-go/capgo-skills --skill webapp-to-capacitor -a opencode
```

## When to use it
- find out whether Apple will reject a thin WebView wrapper under guideline 4.2
- build a phased migration plan covering permissions, offline, auth and payments
- separate digital goods from physical ones to see where IAP is required
- add in-app account deletion so the build passes Apple and Google review
- work out what still breaks after the first successful `cap sync`

## Example prompts
- turn my Next.js app into an iOS and Android app with Capacitor
- Apple may reject us for a thin WebView — what should we add to make it feel native?
- plan the migration: permissions, offline, auth, account deletion and payments

# Web App to Capacitor

Turn a production web app into a Capacitor app that behaves like a mobile app and survives store review. The Capacitor shell is usually a day of work; mobile UX, native capabilities, and store policy are the real project.

## When to Use

TRIGGER when:
- "Turn my website / PWA / React (Vue, Angular, Svelte, Next.js, Nuxt) app into an iOS/Android app."
- The user asks whether Apple will reject a WebView wrapper (guideline 4.2) or how to make it feel native.
- The user needs a migration plan covering permissions, offline, auth, account deletion, payments, and testing.

Do not use for:
- Only fixing `webDir`, SSR, or routing for a specific framework -> `framework-to-capacitor`.
- Cordova/PhoneGap/Ionic-Cordova projects -> `cordova-to-capacitor`.
- Uploading builds, screenshots, listing metadata -> `capacitor-app-store`.
- Auditing a submission or answering a rejection -> `capacitor-apple-review-preflight`.
- CI pipelines and signing -> `capacitor-ci-cd` or `capgo-native-builds`.
