# web-frameworks

A skill group for full-stack work: it gives the agent references for Next.js, Turborepo monorepos and RemixIcon so it stops guessing at project structure.

## What it does

Three topics sit in one skill. Next.js is covered piece by piece: App Router, Server Components, RSC, PPR, SSR, SSG and ISR. Separate references handle routing and layouts, data fetching with caching and revalidation, and optimization of images, fonts and bundles. Turborepo covers monorepos — workspace setup, task pipelines with dependencies, parallel execution, plus local and remote caching. RemixIcon brings over 3100 SVG icons in outlined and filled styles, usable as a webfont or as React components.

The package holds `SKILL.md` and a `references/` folder: App Router, Server Components, data fetching, optimization, Turborepo setup and pipelines, caching, RemixIcon integration. Templates come with it too — a monorepo layout with `apps/` and `packages/`, a `turbo.json` pipeline for build, dev, lint and test, and a shared button in `packages/ui`. Scaffolding starts with `npx create-next-app@latest` or `npx create-turbo@latest`.

Everything assumes TypeScript, so plain JavaScript projects mean rewriting the examples yourself. Install works through `npx skills add` for Claude, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and OpenCode; GitHub Copilot uses `gh skill install`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mrgoonie/claudekit-skills --skill web-frameworks -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/web-frameworks/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/web-frameworks/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mrgoonie/claudekit-skills --skill web-frameworks -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/web-frameworks/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mrgoonie/claudekit-skills --skill web-frameworks -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/web-frameworks/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install mrgoonie/claudekit-skills web-frameworks
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/web-frameworks/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mrgoonie/claudekit-skills --skill web-frameworks -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/mrgoonie/claudekit-skills --path .claude/skills/web-frameworks
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/web-frameworks/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add mrgoonie/claudekit-skills --skill web-frameworks -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/mrgoonie/claudekit-skills/tree/HEAD/.claude/skills/web-frameworks/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- scaffold a full-stack Next.js app with App Router
- set up a monorepo with shared packages and several apps
- pick between SSR, SSG and ISR for a given page
- speed up builds with Turborepo caching and parallel tasks
- wire an SVG icon set into React components

## Example prompts
- Create a Turborepo monorepo with apps/web and packages/ui
- Set up fetch caching and revalidation in the Next.js App Router
- Add RemixIcon to the shared UI package and build a button with an icon

# Web Frameworks Skill Group

Comprehensive guide for building modern full-stack web applications using Next.js, Turborepo, and RemixIcon.

## Overview

This skill group combines three powerful tools for web development:

**Next.js** - React framework with SSR, SSG, RSC, and optimization features
**Turborepo** - High-performance monorepo build system for JavaScript/TypeScript
**RemixIcon** - Icon library with 3,100+ outlined and filled style icons

## When to Use This Skill Group

- Building new full-stack web applications with modern React
- Setting up monorepos with multiple apps and shared packages
- Implementing server-side rendering and static generation
- Optimizing build performance with intelligent caching
- Creating consistent UI with professional iconography
- Managing workspace dependencies across multiple projects
- Deploying production-ready applications with proper optimization

## Stack Selection Guide

### Single Application: Next.js + RemixIcon

Use when building a standalone application:
- E-commerce sites
- Marketing websites
- SaaS applications
- Documentation sites
- Blogs and content platforms

**Setup:**
```bash
npx create-next-app@latest my-app
cd my-app
npm install remixicon
```

### Monorepo: Next.js + Turborepo + RemixIcon

Use when building multiple applications with shared code:
- Microfrontends
- Multi-tenant platforms
- Internal tools with shared component library
- Multiple apps (web, admin, mobile-web) sharing logic
- Design system with documentation site

**Setup:**
```bash
npx create-turbo@latest my-monorepo
# Then configure Next.js apps in apps/ directory
# Install remixicon in shared UI packages
```

### Framework Features Comparison

| Feature | Next.js | Turborepo | RemixIcon |
|---------|---------|-----------|-----------|
| Primary Use | Web framework | Build system | UI icons |
| Best For | SSR/SSG apps | Monorepos | Consistent iconography |
