## What it does

The skill kicks in when you build web content that needs visibility both in search results and in AI answers. It ships page templates for a homepage, a product or service page, a blog article, an FAQ page and a landing page. Each one lays out the block structure and the schema.org markup it expects: Organization, WebSite, Product, Review, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, HowTo.

A second part covers formats that AI systems pull quotes from: TL;DR boxes, "What is X?" definitions, comparison tables, stat boxes with a source, step-by-step guides. The idea is plain — write for humans, structure for machines. You do not call it yourself: it is marked `user-invocable: false` and loads on its own when the task is about web content.

Install runs through `npx skills add` with the agent flag. On Claude the file lands at `~/.claude/skills/web-content/SKILL.md`. Behind a proxy or a private npm mirror, set that up in your environment or npm config rather than as flags on the install line.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill web-content -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/web-content/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/web-content/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill web-content -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/web-content/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill web-content -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/web-content/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install alinaqi/maggy web-content
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/web-content/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill web-content -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy --path skills/web-content
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/web-content/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add alinaqi/maggy --skill web-content -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/alinaqi/maggy/tree/HEAD/skills/web-content/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- lay out a homepage structure with the right schema markup
- write an article AI assistants can quote
- build a product page with a comparison table and Review schema
- create an FAQ page with FAQPage markup
- add TL;DR and definition blocks that generative engines pick up

## Example prompts
- build the landing page structure for a new product with FAQ and schema
- rewrite this article for GEO: add a TL;DR, definitions and a comparison table
- check which schema markup a product page needs

# Web Content Skill

For creating web content optimized for both traditional SEO and AI discovery (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini).

## Philosophy

**SEO gets clicks. GEO gets citations.**

Traditional SEO optimizes for Google rankings. Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) optimizes for being cited by AI assistants. Modern content needs both:

- **SEO**: Rank on search results pages
- **GEO**: Be cited in AI-generated answers (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini)

AI traffic grew 1,200% between July 2024 and February 2025. Google's search share dropped below 90% for the first time in a decade. Optimize for both.

## Content Structure for AI + SEO

### The Golden Rule

**Write for humans, structure for machines.**

AI systems prefer:
- Short, clear, fact-based content
- Clean formatting (headers, bullets, tables)
- Standalone sections that can be quoted
- Direct answers to questions
