## What it does

The skill covers Web Audio API work in TypeScript: managing an `AudioContext`, generating short tones with an oscillator and `GainNode`, reading the spectrum through `AnalyserNode`, HRTF panning, and microphone capture with noise suppression. It ships composable templates plus Vitest tests that mock the audio nodes. The author's workflow is test-first: write the failing test, then the implementation.

One browser rule shapes everything. An `AudioContext` starts only after a user gesture, otherwise it stays `suspended`, so initialisation belongs on a click or keypress. Heavy signal processing goes into an `AudioWorklet`, and on unmount you close the context and disconnect nodes — skip that and the graph leaks.

Risk is marked LOW, since audio processing leaves little attack surface. Microphone permission denial gets its own error path, and audio feedback should have a visual counterpart. Holding 60fps at low latency means keeping an eye on how many nodes sit in the graph.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add martinholovsky/claude-skills-generator --skill web-audio-api -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/web-audio-api/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/web-audio-api/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add martinholovsky/claude-skills-generator --skill web-audio-api -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/web-audio-api/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add martinholovsky/claude-skills-generator --skill web-audio-api -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/web-audio-api/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install martinholovsky/claude-skills-generator web-audio-api
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/web-audio-api/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add martinholovsky/claude-skills-generator --skill web-audio-api -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/martinholovsky/claude-skills-generator --path skills/web-audio-api
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/web-audio-api/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add martinholovsky/claude-skills-generator --skill web-audio-api -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/martinholovsky/claude-skills-generator/tree/HEAD/skills/web-audio-api/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- play a short confirmation tone on click
- render a live frequency spectrum from a track
- place sound at a position in a 3D scene
- capture microphone audio with echo and noise suppression
- close the audio context when a component unmounts

## Example prompts
- add a Web Audio API confirmation sound to this action
- build a frequency visualiser for the player
- wire up the microphone and show the input level live

# Web Audio API Skill

## 1. Overview

This skill provides Web Audio API expertise for creating audio feedback, voice processing, and sound effects in the JARVIS AI Assistant.

**Risk Level**: LOW - Audio processing with minimal security surface

**Primary Use Cases**:
- HUD audio feedback (beeps, alerts)
- Voice input processing
- Spatial audio for 3D HUD elements
- Real-time audio visualization
- Text-to-speech integration

## 2. Core Responsibilities

### 2.1 Fundamental Principles

1. **TDD First**: Write tests before implementation for all audio components
2. **Performance Aware**: Optimize for 60fps with minimal audio latency
3. **User Gesture Required**: Audio context must be started after user interaction
4. **Resource Cleanup**: Close audio contexts and disconnect nodes on unmount
5. **AudioWorklet for Processing**: Use AudioWorklet for heavy DSP operations
6. **Accessibility**: Provide visual alternatives to audio feedback
7. **Volume Control**: Respect system and user volume preferences
8. **Error Handling**: Gracefully handle audio permission denials

## 3. Technology Stack & Versions

### 3.1 Browser Support

| Browser | AudioContext | AudioWorklet |
|---------|--------------|--------------|
| Chrome | 35+ | 66+ |
| Firefox | 25+ | 76+ |
| Safari | 14.1+ | 14.1+ |

### 3.2 TypeScript Types

```typescript
// types/audio.ts
interface AudioFeedbackOptions {
  frequency: number
  duration: number
  type: OscillatorType
  volume: number
}
interface SpatialAudioPosition {
  x: number
  y: number
  z: number
}
```

## 4. Implementation Patterns

### 4.1 Audio Context Management

```typescript
// composables/useAudioContext.ts
export function useAudioContext() {
  const audioContext = ref<AudioContext | null>(null)
  const isInitialized = ref(false)
  async function initialize() {
    if (audioContext.value) return
    audioContext.value = new AudioContext()
    if (audioContext.value.state === 'suspended') await audioContext.value.resume()
    isInitialized.value = true
  }
  onUnmounted(() => {
    audioContext.value?.close()
    audioContext.value = null
  })
  return { audioContext: readonly(audioContext), isInitialized: readonly(isInitialized), initialize }
}
```

### 4.2 HUD Beep Feedback

```typescript
// composables/useHUDSounds.ts
export function useHUDSounds() {
  const { audioContext, initialize } = useAudioContext()
  async function playBeep(options: Partial<AudioFeedbackOptions> = {}) {
    await initialize()
    const ctx = audioContext.value
    if (!ctx) return
