## What it does

This skill configures your assistant as a candid technical peer. Whenever you trigger it with `/wdyt` or ask for an opinion, the model inspects the targeted diff, document, or code snippet before judging. It opens immediately with a single-sentence verdict stating whether the concept works, fails, or pursues the right outcome via an unworkable path.

Feedback follows a strict structure. The assistant lists up to three primary arguments backed by file names or benchmarks, identifies uncomfortable blind spots like creeping scope, and suggests a concrete substitute path. It holds its ground when challenged, adjusting its stance only when presented with genuine counter-evidence.

The skill is strictly limited to advisory remarks: running write operations or editing project files is prohibited until you ask for changes directly.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add timschoch/skilly --skill wdyt -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/wdyt/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/wdyt/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add timschoch/skilly --skill wdyt -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/wdyt/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add timschoch/skilly --skill wdyt -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/wdyt/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install timschoch/skilly wdyt
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/wdyt/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add timschoch/skilly --skill wdyt -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/timschoch/skilly --path bundles/workflow/skills/wdyt
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/wdyt/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add timschoch/skilly --skill wdyt -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- get blunt feedback on architecture proposals without conversational flattery
- spot hidden assumptions and scope creep before writing code
- verify pull request diffs for questionable design choices
- receive a concrete alternative when an initial plan has flaws

## Example prompts
- /wdyt Here is my proposal for caching session data
- Check this diff before I open a pull request, wdyt?
- What do you think about splitting this service into two workers?
