## What it does

The skill triggers when an operator questions an AI decision using phrases like "is that right?" or gives standing guidance such as "from now on, do W at Z". Instead of defending a stale output or letting spoken feedback vanish at session close, it validates the challenge and commits changes to files like `CLAUDE.md` or memory.

A built-in evidence gate stops unverified baseline overwrites. A persistent project rule will not change on bare pushback: the user must point to an actual commit, file, or past decision that checks out upon reading, or a `Grep` pass must show a direct conflict. If neither check passes, the skill halts the write cascade and demands confirmation.

Execution runs on Sonnet and routes to Opus for high-stakes revalidations. The skill interacts with the local workspace using `Read`, `Write`, `Edit`, `Grep`, `Glob`, and `Bash`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add chrono-meta/forge-harness --skill verify-bidirectional -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/verify-bidirectional/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/verify-bidirectional/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add chrono-meta/forge-harness --skill verify-bidirectional -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/verify-bidirectional/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add chrono-meta/forge-harness --skill verify-bidirectional -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/verify-bidirectional/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install chrono-meta/forge-harness verify-bidirectional
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/verify-bidirectional/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add chrono-meta/forge-harness --skill verify-bidirectional -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/chrono-meta/forge-harness --path plugins/fh-meta/skills/verify-bidirectional
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/verify-bidirectional/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add chrono-meta/forge-harness --skill verify-bidirectional -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/chrono-meta/forge-harness/tree/HEAD/plugins/fh-meta/skills/verify-bidirectional/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- record operator feedback into canon files instead of losing it between sessions
- verify user counter-claims against source code and git history
- block baseless baseline rule rewrites during prompt arguments
- turn standing workflow directives into immediate file updates

## Example prompts
- /verify-bidirectional
- Something seems off here, re-examine the logic in the router
- From now on, run unit tests before proposing dependency changes

# verify-bidirectional — Bidirectional Self-Validation Automation

Automates the processing procedure for bidirectional self-validation. Three stages: user counter-argument → baseline update → next session reflection.

## Trigger Conditions

Immediately **after** this harness AI recommendation/agreement/decision is committed, when the user raises a refinement challenge:

1. **Proposition refinement**: "isn't it more like..." / "I'd say..." / "what about this" / "what's the root?"
2. **Baseline grep trigger**: User cross-references own assets, memory, CLAUDE.md rules, past decisions
3. **Meta-level trigger**: "if you have objections" / "double-check" / "essence" / "root cause"
4. **Side validation result**: User runs independent tools (`/skills` · `gh` · external fetch) → catches mismatch with this harness AI hypothesis

### Natural Language Triggers (works without internal vocabulary)

Also triggered in external user environments by these natural language phrases:

| Phrase | Intent |
|---|---|
| "is that right?", "re-examine this" | Request AI recommendation re-validation |
| "something seems off", "this doesn't feel right" | Counter-argument / refinement |
| "I think you said something different before" | Catch inconsistency with past decisions |
| "can you be more precise?" | Proposition refinement trigger |
| "what's your basis?", "why do you think that?" | Baseline grep trigger |
| "check that one more time" | Self-validation request |

### 🟥 5. Prescriptive doctrine statement — the category that fell through (added 2026-08-16)

Every trigger above is shaped as **doubt about a claim**. A large class of operator correction is not
doubt at all — it is a **standing rule being handed over**, stated as fact or instruction:

| Shape | Real examples (2026-08-16 session) |
|---|---|
