## What it does

The skill hands the agent a map of Vercel: entry points (dashboard, CLI, REST API, webhooks), the project setup workflow, and a service breakdown covering deployments and builds, functions and runtime, data stores, domains and routing, observability, security and access, teams and billing, plus AI SDK and MCP. It also lists related skills to jump into for depth, if those are deployed.

The workflow it describes is short: create a project, connect a Git repository, set environment variables per environment, check configuration defaults and overrides, then deploy from the dashboard or CLI. The skill does not run the deploy itself. It tells the agent what to do and where in the Vercel docs to look.

It ships as `user-invocable: false` and `disable-model-invocation: true`, so you never call it by name — it loads as background context. Companion skills such as `nextjs`, `react` and `typescript` are optional, and the skill works without them.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills --skill vercel-overview -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/vercel-overview/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/vercel-overview/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills --skill vercel-overview -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/vercel-overview/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills --skill vercel-overview -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/vercel-overview/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills vercel-overview
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/vercel-overview/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills --skill vercel-overview -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills --path toolchains/platforms/deployment/vercel-overview
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/vercel-overview/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills --skill vercel-overview -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/bobmatnyc/claude-mpm-skills/tree/HEAD/toolchains/platforms/deployment/vercel-overview/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- get oriented in Vercel entry points before a first deploy
- connect a Git repository and set environment variables per environment
- pick Vercel services that fit a given workload
- find the right docs section for REST API or webhooks
- navigate the skill map toward deployments, functions or storage topics

## Example prompts
- walk me through setting up a Vercel project from scratch
- which environment variables should I set, and how do I split them per environment
- explain how to manage deployments through the REST API and webhooks
