# venice-video

A skill that walks an agent through Venice's async video endpoints: text-to-video, image-to-video, first/last-frame transitions, upscale. Useful when you want a clip straight from the prompt.

## What it does

Four endpoints are live and one is gone. `POST /video/quote` returns a price in USD and needs no API key, except for upscale models. `POST /video/queue` validates the request, charges, and hands back a `queue_id` right away. `POST /video/retrieve` polls status and downloads `video/mp4`. Cleanup through `POST /video/complete` currently rejects `queue_id`s from the queue call, so the skill points you at `delete_media_on_completion` on retrieve instead. `POST /video/transcriptions` answers `410`; to read a video, use chat completions with `video_url`.

Each model has its own strict schema. Send a field the model does not take and you get a `400` — nothing is dropped quietly. Read the constraints from `GET /models?type=video` first: model type, durations, aspect ratios, resolutions, prompt limit. `audio` goes only when `audio_configurable` is set, `audio_url` only with `audio_input`. A quote that succeeds proves little, because it discards fields the model ignores while the queue call rejects them.

Upscale models such as `topaz-video-upscale` want a Bearer key and a `video_url`; Venice downloads the file to read duration, FPS and height, and returns `400` if that fails. Video-to-video models also require `video_url`. On R2V models with reference video, pass `reference_video_total_duration` — reference video is billed, so leaving it out under-quotes the job.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add veniceai/skills --skill venice-video -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/venice-video/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/venice-video/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add veniceai/skills --skill venice-video -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/venice-video/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add veniceai/skills --skill venice-video -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/venice-video/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install veniceai/skills venice-video
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/venice-video/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add veniceai/skills --skill venice-video -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/veniceai/skills --path skills/venice-video
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/venice-video/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add veniceai/skills --skill venice-video -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/veniceai/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/venice-video/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- turn a text prompt into a downloadable mp4
- build a transition from a first frame to a last frame
- restyle an existing clip or raise its resolution
- price a job before any money moves
- generate video with reference images, clips and audio

## Example prompts
- Generate a video with venice-video: model `wan-2.6-text-to-video`, 5 seconds, 16:9, with audio
- Quote the job first with `/video/quote`, then submit it to the queue
- Poll the job status and save the result to `out.mp4`

description: Generate videos via Venice. Covers the async /video/quote + /video/queue + /video/retrieve + /video/complete loop, text-to-video, image-to-video, first/last-frame transitions, video-to-video and upscale, audio input, reference images / videos / audio (R2V) and their per-model caps, Kling elements and scene images, Seedance source-matched edit/extend and omni_reference_task_type, H3 Max Multi-Angle camera_trajectory, and replayed async failures. # Venice Video

Video is **asynchronous** — like audio music. Four live endpoints plus one retired one:

| Endpoint | Purpose |
|---|---|
| `POST /video/quote` | Price in USD (no charge, no job). No API key needed, except for upscale models. |
| `POST /video/queue` | Validate, charge, and enqueue. Returns `queue_id` immediately. |
| `POST /video/retrieve` | Poll status, download `video/mp4`, or receive the job's failure. |
| `POST /video/complete` | Cleanup of the finished media. Currently rejects `queue_id`s from `/video/queue`, so use `delete_media_on_completion` on retrieve instead (see [step 4](#4-clean-up-with-videocomplete)). |
| `POST /video/transcriptions` | **Retired — always returns `410`.** See [below](#videotranscriptions-retired). |

`/video/queue`, `/video/retrieve`, and `/video/complete` accept a Bearer API key or an x402 `SIGN-IN-WITH-X` wallet header (see [`venice-x402`](../venice-x402/SKILL.md)).

## Use when

- You need text-to-video, image-to-video, first/last-frame transitions, reference-to-video (R2V), video-to-video, video upscale, or video-with-audio.
- You can tolerate async execution (seconds to several minutes depending on model, duration, and queue depth — `/video/retrieve` returns `average_execution_time` and `execution_duration` for a live estimate).
- You want to price a job precisely before committing (`/video/quote`).

Not for: understanding or summarizing an existing video — use [`venice-chat`](../venice-chat/SKILL.md) with a `video_url` content part.

## Pick a model first

Every field below is model-specific. Read the model's constraints from `GET /models?type=video` (see [`venice-models`](../venice-models/SKILL.md)) before building a request:
```
The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 888e045b26526902 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
