## What it does

The skill walks through the whole path: choose a base hook type from a decision table, configure permissions and utility libraries, assemble the canonical MCP JSON, then invoke the tool and get code that compiles as-is. The table covers 14 types, from `BaseHook` for custom swap logic to `AntiSandwichHook` for MEV protection, `LimitOrderHook` for limit orders and `OracleHookWithV3Adapters` when downstream integrations expect a v3-compatible oracle interface.

Six decisions come before the tool call: hook type, which callbacks to enable, utility libraries such as `currencySettler` and `transientStorage`, shares mode (`false`, `ERC20`, `ERC6909` or `ERC1155`), access control (`ownable`, `roles`, `managed`) and inputs like `blockNumberOffset`. Enable only the permissions your logic uses. Each flag widens the attack surface, and the bits are encoded in the deployed address, so you mine a salt with `HookMiner` from `v4-periphery` — otherwise PoolManager reverts.

The author points to `v4-security-foundations` as a companion skill: run it right after generation and again before deployment to audit permissions, delta accounting and access control. That is not box-ticking. `beforeSwapReturnDelta` is flagged critical because of the NoOp attack vector, while `beforeRemoveLiquidity` and `afterSwapReturnDelta` sit at high risk. Misconfigure a hook and user funds can drain.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Uniswap/uniswap-ai --skill v4-hook-generator -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/v4-hook-generator/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/v4-hook-generator/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Uniswap/uniswap-ai --skill v4-hook-generator -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/v4-hook-generator/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Uniswap/uniswap-ai --skill v4-hook-generator -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/v4-hook-generator/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Uniswap/uniswap-ai v4-hook-generator
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/v4-hook-generator/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Uniswap/uniswap-ai --skill v4-hook-generator -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Uniswap/uniswap-ai --path packages/plugins/uniswap-hooks/skills/v4-hook-generator
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/v4-hook-generator/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Uniswap/uniswap-ai --skill v4-hook-generator -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

## When to use it
- scaffold a Uniswap v4 hook contract from scratch
- pick the right base hook type for a use case
- enable only the callbacks the logic needs
- build the MCP JSON for the OpenZeppelin Contracts Wizard
- compare hook configurations before committing to one

## Example prompts
- generate a Uniswap v4 hook with dynamic swap fees
- I need a limit order hook — pick the base type for me
- assemble a hook config with sandwich protection and show the MCP JSON

# v4 Hook Generator

Generate Uniswap v4 hook contracts via the OpenZeppelin Contracts Wizard MCP tool. This skill
guides you through selecting the right hook type, configuring permissions and utilities, assembling
the canonical MCP JSON, and invoking the MCP tool to produce ready-to-compile Solidity code.

> **Security companion**: Generated hook code touches fund-handling contracts. Always apply the
> `v4-security-foundations` skill immediately after generation to audit permissions, delta
> accounting, and access control before deploying to any network.

## When to Use This Skill

Use this skill when you need to:

- Scaffold a new Uniswap v4 hook contract from scratch
- Select the right base hook type for a specific use case (fees, MEV protection, oracles, etc.)
- Configure hook permissions, utility libraries, shares, and access control
- Produce the canonical MCP tool call JSON to invoke the OpenZeppelin Contracts Wizard
- Understand trade-offs between hook configuration options before committing to an implementation

**Prerequisite / companion skill**: `v4-security-foundations` — run it before writing custom logic
and again before deployment. Hook misconfiguration can drain user funds.

## Hook Type Decision Table

Choose the base hook type that matches your primary goal. If your hook has multiple goals, choose
the type that covers the most critical concern and layer additional logic on top.

| Goal                 | Use Hook                   |
| -------------------- | -------------------------- |
| Custom swap logic    | `BaseHook`                 |
| Async/delayed swaps  | `BaseAsyncSwap`            |
| Hook-owned liquidity | `BaseCustomAccounting`     |
| Custom curve         | `BaseCustomCurve`          |
| Dynamic LP fees      | `BaseDynamicFee`           |
| Dynamic swap fees    | `BaseOverrideFee`          |
| Post-swap fees       | `BaseDynamicAfterFee`      |
```
