## What it does

The skill acts as the quality gate between UX design and implementation in the `/team-ui` pipeline. Run it after `/ux-design`, before handing work to `ui-programmer` or `art-director`, or after major spec revisions. You pass a file path, `all` for every document in `design/ux/`, `hud`, or `patterns`.

Before checking anything, it loads context: the `platform` block from `project.yaml` (or the `## Input & Platform` section of `.claude/docs/technical-preferences.md`), the accessibility tier from `design/accessibility-requirements.md`, the interaction pattern library, the player journey map, and the UI Requirements sections of referenced GDDs. Each file then goes to one of three checklists — 3A for a UX spec, 3B for HUD, 3C for a pattern library — picked from the `> **Template**:` header line, or from the filename when that line is missing.

Four verdicts come out. APPROVED means the spec is ready to implement. NEEDS REVISION flags specific gaps, MAJOR REVISION NEEDED points at scope or completeness problems. NOT ASSESSED ranks above APPROVED and below the two revision verdicts: it marks a dimension with nothing to compare against, or a file that could not be read. If `project.yaml` has no `platform` block and `technical-preferences.md` is absent, the spec header becomes the source for input methods — worth checking that it says what you expect.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill ux-review -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ux-review/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ux-review/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill ux-review -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ux-review/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill ux-review -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ux-review/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios ux-review
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ux-review/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill ux-review -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --path .claude/skills/ux-review
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ux-review/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios --skill ux-review -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/Donchitos/Claude-Code-Game-Studios/tree/HEAD/.claude/skills/ux-review/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- validate a UX spec before handing it to implementation
- catch undocumented screen states: loading, empty, error
- check that input methods match the target platforms
- compare a spec against the committed accessibility tier
- review every document in `design/ux/` and get a summary table

## Example prompts
- /ux-review design/ux/inventory.md
- /ux-review all
- /ux-review patterns

# UX Review

## Overview

Validates UX design documents before they enter the implementation pipeline.
Acts as the quality gate between UX Design and Visual Design/Implementation in
the `/team-ui` pipeline.

**Run this skill:**
- After completing a UX spec with `/ux-design`
- Before handing off to `ui-programmer` or `art-director`
- Before the Pre-Production to Production gate check (which requires key screens
  to have reviewed UX specs)
- After major revisions to a UX spec

**Verdict levels:**
- **APPROVED** — spec is complete, consistent, and implementation-ready
- **NOT ASSESSED** — one or more review dimensions had no criterion to check
  against, or the spec could not be read; name which
- **NEEDS REVISION** — specific gaps found; fix before handoff but not a full redesign
- **MAJOR REVISION NEEDED** — fundamental issues with scope, player need, or
  completeness; needs significant rework

**`NOT ASSESSED` ranks above APPROVED and below the two revision verdicts.** A
review that could not evaluate a dimension has not shown the spec is
implementation-ready; but a gap somebody found is more actionable than one nobody
could look for, so it must not displace them. Emit it when the spec file cannot
be read, when a checklist dimension has no source of truth to compare against, or
when the accessibility tier is uncommitted (below).

## Phase 1: Parse Arguments

- **Specific file path** (e.g., `/ux-review design/ux/inventory.md`): validate
  that one document
- **`all`**: find all files in `design/ux/` and validate each
- **`hud`**: validate `design/ux/hud.md` specifically
- **`patterns`**: validate `design/ux/interaction-patterns.md` specifically
- **No argument**: ask the user which spec to validate

For `all`, output a summary table first (file | verdict | primary issue) then
full detail for each.
```
