## What it does

The skill wires your agent into the Circle Smart Contract Platform API. It deploys contracts from raw bytecode, imports existing ones, runs ABI-based reads and writes, and watches emitted events through webhooks. Four templates ship with it: ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155 and Airdrop.

The setup uses two SDK clients. `@circle-fin/smart-contract-platform` covers deployment, imports, read queries and event monitoring; `@circle-fin/developer-controlled-wallets` handles write transactions and supplies deployment wallets. Reads (`view`/`pure`) go through `scpClient.queryContract()` and need no gas. Writes go through `walletsClient.createContractExecutionTransaction()` and need a wallet ID with gas funds. Every mutating call wants an `idempotencyKey` as a UUID v4 — a non-UUID key comes back as a generic `API parameter invalid`.

You need `CIRCLE_API_KEY` in `PREFIX:ID:SECRET` form and `ENTITY_SECRET` before anything runs. Compile Solidity with `evmVersion: "paris"` or earlier. From 0.8.20 the default is Shanghai, and bytecode carrying `PUSH0` fails deployment on Arc and other non-Shanghai chains with `ESTIMATION_ERROR`. Deployment is async, so poll `getContract()` for `deploymentStatus`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-smart-contract-platform -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/use-smart-contract-platform/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/use-smart-contract-platform/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-smart-contract-platform -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/use-smart-contract-platform/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-smart-contract-platform -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/use-smart-contract-platform/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install circlefin/skills use-smart-contract-platform
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/use-smart-contract-platform/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-smart-contract-platform -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/circlefin/skills --path plugins/circle/skills/use-smart-contract-platform
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/use-smart-contract-platform/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-smart-contract-platform -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/circlefin/skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/circle/skills/use-smart-contract-platform/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- deploy an ERC-20 from bytecode to a testnet
- mint an NFT collection from the ERC-721 template
- distribute tokens in bulk with the Airdrop template
- read contract state over ABI without spending gas
- subscribe to contract events via webhook

## Example prompts
- Deploy an ERC-20 token on BASE-SEPOLIA through Circle
- Read the wallet balance from this contract over ABI
- Set up a webhook for the Transfer event on this contract

## Overview

Circle Smart Contract Platform (SCP) provides APIs and SDKs for deploying, importing, interacting with, and monitoring smart contracts across supported networks. Deploy contracts from raw bytecode, use audited templates for standard patterns, execute ABI-based contract calls, and monitor emitted events through webhooks.

## Prerequisites / Setup

### Installation

```bash
npm install @circle-fin/smart-contract-platform @circle-fin/developer-controlled-wallets
```

### Environment Variables

```
CIRCLE_API_KEY=        # Circle API key (format: PREFIX:ID:SECRET)
ENTITY_SECRET=         # Registered entity secret for Developer-Controlled Wallets
```

### SDK Initialization

```typescript
import { initiateSmartContractPlatformClient } from "@circle-fin/smart-contract-platform";
import { initiateDeveloperControlledWalletsClient } from "@circle-fin/developer-controlled-wallets";
const scpClient = initiateSmartContractPlatformClient({
  apiKey: process.env.CIRCLE_API_KEY!,
  entitySecret: process.env.ENTITY_SECRET!,
});
const walletsClient = initiateDeveloperControlledWalletsClient({
  apiKey: process.env.CIRCLE_API_KEY!,
  entitySecret: process.env.ENTITY_SECRET!,
});
```

## Quick Reference

### Supported Blockchains

| Chain | Mainnet | Testnet |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Arbitrum | `ARB` | `ARB-SEPOLIA` |
| Arc | `ARC` | `ARC-TESTNET` |
| Avalanche | `AVAX` | `AVAX-FUJI` |
| Base | `BASE` | `BASE-SEPOLIA` |
| Ethereum | `ETH` | `ETH-SEPOLIA` |
| Monad | `MONAD` | `MONAD-TESTNET` |
| OP Mainnet | `OP` | `OP-SEPOLIA` |
| Polygon PoS | `MATIC` | `MATIC-AMOY` |
| Unichain | `UNI` | `UNI-SEPOLIA` |

The `references/` examples use Arc Testnet (`blockchain: 'ARC-TESTNET'`); for **Arc mainnet**, pass `blockchain: 'ARC'`. The Arc USDC address `0x3600000000000000000000000000000000000000` is the same on both networks.
