## What it does

Circle Gateway provides a unified USDC balance abstraction across supported networks without waiting for source chain finality. The skill provides reference patterns for contract-level interactions with Gateway Wallet and Gateway Minter on-chain, paired with the Gateway REST API for attestations.

The workflow requires signing burn intents via EIP-712 on EVM or Ed25519 on Solana, submitting the intent to Circle's REST API, and calling `gatewayMint` on the destination network. Self-managed EVM implementations rely on `viem` or injected EIP-1193 providers, while Solana integrations use Anchor. There is no standalone Gateway SDK, which makes direct contract calls and domain IDs mandatory from the start.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-gateway -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/use-gateway/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/use-gateway/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-gateway -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/use-gateway/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-gateway -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/use-gateway/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install circlefin/skills use-gateway
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/use-gateway/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-gateway -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/circlefin/skills --path plugins/circle/skills/use-gateway
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/use-gateway/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add circlefin/skills --skill use-gateway -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/circlefin/skills/tree/HEAD/plugins/circle/skills/use-gateway/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- unify USDC deposits across 11 EVM networks, Solana, and Arc
- sign burn intents using EIP-712 or Ed25519
- submit burn intents to Gateway REST API and execute gatewayMint

## Example prompts
- Show how to transfer USDC from Arbitrum to Solana using Circle Gateway and viem
- Generate a burn intent payload for Circle Gateway on Base Sepolia
- Write a script to call gatewayMint on destination chain using Circle API attestation

## Overview

Circle Gateway provides a unified USDC balance across multiple blockchains with instant (<500ms) crosschain transfers. Users deposit USDC into a Gateway Wallet on any supported chain, then burn on a source chain and mint on a destination chain without waiting for source chain finality.

## Prerequisites / Setup

Gateway is a contract-level integration -- there is no SDK to install. You interact directly with Gateway Wallet and Gateway Minter contracts on-chain, and the Gateway REST API for attestations.

### Chain Configuration

Do not load a separate config file by default. Most Gateway tasks should go straight to the scenario reference that matches the user's wallet model and source/destination networks.

Use the scenario reference first and only do additional verification when you need to confirm:

- Gateway REST base URL
  - testnet: `https://gateway-api-testnet.circle.com/v1/`
  - mainnet: `https://gateway-api.circle.com/v1/`
- chain-specific USDC addresses: `https://developers.circle.com/stablecoins/usdc-contract-addresses.md`
- Circle Wallet blockchain identifiers: `https://developers.circle.com/wallets/supported-blockchains.md`
