## What it does

The skill drives an iterative loop: you run the same polish prompt more than ten times, since small tweaks compound. Desktop and mobile are handled as separate modalities, so a fix for one does not flatten the other. A reference table lists patterns with their techniques — glassmorphism via `backdrop-blur-xl` and a translucent background, neumorphism with dual-direction shadows, bento grids built on CSS Grid with `rounded-3xl` cells.

Accessibility gets its own section: 4.5:1 contrast for text, 3:1 for UI elements, 24x24px targets, visible focus, and respect for `prefers-reduced-motion`. Common mistakes are spelled out too. Neumorphism without a border, for instance, is hard to read for low-vision users, so the skill asks for a 1px border.

This is not for a broken app. Fix functional bugs first, and have a basic design system in place — polish sits on top of something that already works. For deeper WCAG work, ARIA patterns, focus management and screen reader testing, the author points to a separate `accessibility` skill.

## Requirements
- Works with: Stripe

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oakoss/agent-skills --skill ui-ux-polish -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/ui-ux-polish/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/ui-ux-polish/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oakoss/agent-skills --skill ui-ux-polish -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/ui-ux-polish/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oakoss/agent-skills --skill ui-ux-polish -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/ui-ux-polish/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install oakoss/agent-skills ui-ux-polish
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/ui-ux-polish/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oakoss/agent-skills --skill ui-ux-polish -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/oakoss/agent-skills --path skills/ui-ux-polish
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/ui-ux-polish/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add oakoss/agent-skills --skill ui-ux-polish -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/oakoss/agent-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/ui-ux-polish/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- take a working interface from decent to polished through many small passes
- optimize desktop and mobile layouts independently instead of compromising both
- apply glassmorphism or bento grid patterns from ready recipes
- check contrast, target sizes and visible focus against WCAG 2.2 AA
- honor `prefers-reduced-motion` in animations and micro-interactions

## Example prompts
- run the ui-ux-polish loop on the dashboard, start with desktop
- audit this page against WCAG 2.2 AA and list what to fix
- apply a bento grid to the feature cards on the landing page

# UI/UX Polish

Iterative enhancement workflow that takes working web applications from decent to world-class. Covers desktop and mobile optimization as separate modalities, visual design patterns, and accessibility standards.

**When to use**: The app works correctly with basic styling in place and you want to improve visual quality through iterative refinement. Also use for applying specific design patterns (glassmorphism, neumorphism, bento grids) or auditing accessibility.

**When NOT to use**: The app is broken or buggy (fix bugs first), styling is fundamentally wrong (needs complete overhaul), or no basic design system exists yet.

## Quick Reference

| Pattern               | Technique                                       | Key Point                                     |
| --------------------- | ----------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| Iterative polish | Run the same polish prompt 10+ times | Small improvements compound dramatically |
| Desktop/mobile split | Optimize each modality independently | Prevents compromises that hurt both |
| Glassmorphism         | `backdrop-blur-xl` + `bg-white/70` + border     | Functional depth with legibility              |
| Neumorphism | Dual-direction box shadows | Best in light mode; use borders for a11y |
| Bento grid | CSS Grid with `rounded-3xl` cells | Hero cell spans multiple columns/rows |
| WCAG 2.2 AA           | Contrast ratios + target sizes + focus visible  | 4.5:1 text, 3:1 UI, 24x24px targets           |
| Reduced motion        | `prefers-reduced-motion: reduce`                | Disable animations for motion-sensitive users |
| Semantic HTML         | Landmarks + heading hierarchy + native elements | Use `<button>` not `<div role="button">`      |
| Inclusive design | Multiple input methods + error forgiveness | Support keyboard, voice, and touch equally |
| Typography hierarchy | Consistent scale with clear levels | Font size, weight, and spacing rhythm |
