## What it does

This skill guides agents through working with `.typ` files, `typst.toml`, and the Typst CLI. It contains syntax references and layout styling rules. To discover packages across Typst Universe, it includes the `scripts/search-packages.py` helper script.

Agent verification uses three approaches. HTML export checks heading structure and text content. Rendering pages to PNG inspects visual spacing and font rendering. For page-specific text fallbacks, it runs `pdftotext`.

The instructions target Typst 0.15+. Projects running Typst 0.14.2 will break on updated syntax, which makes checking out the legacy `typst-0.14.2` repository tag necessary.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add lucifer1004/claude-skill-typst --skill typst -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/typst/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/typst/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add lucifer1004/claude-skill-typst --skill typst -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/typst/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add lucifer1004/claude-skill-typst --skill typst -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/typst/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install lucifer1004/claude-skill-typst typst
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/typst/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add lucifer1004/claude-skill-typst --skill typst -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/lucifer1004/claude-skill-typst --path skills/typst
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/typst/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add lucifer1004/claude-skill-typst --skill typst -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/lucifer1004/claude-skill-typst/tree/HEAD/skills/typst/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- compile `.typ` documents into PDF or PNG images
- convert existing LaTeX or Markdown documents to Typst
- format academic papers with equations and bibliographies
- create reusable document templates with custom set and show rules

## Example prompts
- Convert this LaTeX document to Typst and apply standard A4 margins
- Compile document.typ to PNG to verify heading spacing
- Search Typst Universe for resume packages using scripts/search-packages.py

# Typst

This skill targets Typst 0.15+. For Typst 0.14.2, use the `typst-0.14.2`
repository tag for the previous skill snapshot.

## Compilation

```bash
typst compile document.typ              # compile once → PDF
typst compile document.typ output.pdf   # explicit output path
typst compile document.typ -f png       # export as PNG image
typst compile src/main.typ --root .     # set project root for /path imports
typst watch document.typ                # recompile on change
typst eval --in document.typ 'query(heading).len()'  # Typst 0.15+ introspection
```

For command options beyond this quick reference, see [cli.md](cli.md).

Agent verification — choose by what you need to check (see [debug.md](debug.md) for details):
