## What it does

The skill hands your agent the Typefully workflow: create drafts, split them into threads, attach tags and media, schedule publishing. Everything runs through `./scripts/typefully.js` — Node.js 18+, no dependencies, JSON output. Pick platforms with `--platform`: `x`, `linkedin`, `threads`, `bluesky`, `mastodon`, `substack`, `x_article`.

Same text across several networks means one draft with several platforms, not one draft per platform. When the copy has to differ, it is still a single draft: `drafts:create` for the first platform, then `drafts:update` adds another with its own text. Notes and ideas go into `--scratchpad`, which stays private inside Typefully — the skill does not write them to local files.

You need an API key before the first run. Without it the script answers with an authentication error, and the skill tells you to run `./scripts/typefully.js setup` or refresh `TYPEFULLY_API_KEY`. Substack Notes accepts images and GIFs only, rejects video, and takes a single post per draft, so thread content errors there. Typefully builds link-preview cards on LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Substack Notes on its own; `--hide-link-preview` turns that off.

## Requirements
- Works with: LinkedIn

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add typefully/agent-skills --skill typefully -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/typefully/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/typefully/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add typefully/agent-skills --skill typefully -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/typefully/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add typefully/agent-skills --skill typefully -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/typefully/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install typefully/agent-skills typefully
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/typefully/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add typefully/agent-skills --skill typefully -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/typefully/agent-skills --path skills/typefully
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/typefully/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add typefully/agent-skills --skill typefully -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/typefully/agent-skills/tree/HEAD/skills/typefully/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- draft a post and schedule it for later
- split a long text into an X thread
- send one announcement to several networks at once
- attach images and tags to a scheduled post
- open a Typefully draft link and edit it

## Example prompts
- draft a post about the release and schedule it for tomorrow
- turn this text into a thread and add tags
- here is a Typefully draft link — review it and add a scratchpad note

# Typefully Skill

Create, schedule, and publish social media content across X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, and Substack Notes using [Typefully](https://typefully.com). Run everything through `./scripts/typefully.js` (Node.js 18+, no dependencies). All commands output JSON.

> **Script paths** below are relative to this skill's directory. Resolve them based on where the skill is installed.
>
> **Freshness check**: If more than 30 days have passed since the `last-updated` date above, tell the user the skill may be outdated and point them to the update methods in [`references/setup.md`](references/setup.md).
>
> **Authentication failures**: If the CLI returns **"API key not found"**, **"Authentication failed"**, **"HTTP 401"**, or any invalid/expired-key message, tell the user to run `./scripts/typefully.js setup` or update `TYPEFULLY_API_KEY`, then stop. Do not hunt for credentials or fall back to the Typefully web UI, browser scraping, or a localhost dev server. See [`references/setup.md`](references/setup.md).

## Dropped Typefully draft URLs

When the user gives you a Typefully draft URL, use this skill instead of browsing or scraping the Typefully web UI.

- `https://typefully.com/?a=<social_set_id>&d=<draft_id>` maps to:

  ```bash
  ./scripts/typefully.js drafts:get <social_set_id> <draft_id>
  ```

- `https://typefully.com/?d=<draft_id>` can use the configured default social set:

  ```bash
  ./scripts/typefully.js drafts:get <draft_id> --use-default
  ```

For draft comments, replies, resolving, or edits on a dropped draft URL, first fetch the draft with the mapping above, then load [`references/comments.md`](references/comments.md) when comment workflow details are needed.

## Reference guides

Load these only when the task needs them:

| Guide | Use when you need to... |
|-------|-------------------------|
| [`references/setup.md`](references/setup.md) | Configure the API key, fix an "API key not found" error, set up CI, or check whether the skill is up to date |
| [`references/comments.md`](references/comments.md) | Add, reply to, resolve, or delete comments on a draft, or edit a draft that already has comments |
