## What it does

The skill covers the endpoints under `api.twitterapi.io`. On the read side: tweets, profiles, followers, trends, replies, quotes, articles, and advanced search with X operators. On the write side: posting, replying, liking, retweeting, following, DMs, profile updates, plus communities and lists. One header does the auth — `x-api-key`. The key comes from the `TWITTERAPI_IO_KEY` environment variable, so the agent will ask you for it if that variable is missing.

Parameter names are the usual trap. There is no single convention: `/twitter/user/followers` takes `userName`, `/twitter/user/verifiedFollowers` takes `user_id`, and `/twitter/user/articles` takes `username` in all lowercase. Copy them as written in the reference file instead of normalising. Writes need three things in the body, not two: `login_cookies` in the plural (base64-encoded JSON from `/twitter/user_login_v2`), a `proxy` URL configured in the dashboard, and the action's own fields. Skip the proxy and the write call fails.

Response shapes differ too. Some endpoints wrap everything in `data`, others return a flat list, and a few use a named top-level field such as `community_info`. Defensive access is the safer habit: `r.get("tweets", r.get("data", {}).get("tweets", []))`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kaitoInfra/twitterapi-io --skill twitterapi-io -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/twitterapi-io/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/twitterapi-io/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kaitoInfra/twitterapi-io --skill twitterapi-io -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/twitterapi-io/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kaitoInfra/twitterapi-io --skill twitterapi-io -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/twitterapi-io/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install kaitoInfra/twitterapi-io twitterapi-io
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/twitterapi-io/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kaitoInfra/twitterapi-io --skill twitterapi-io -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/kaitoInfra/twitterapi-io --path skills/twitterapi-io
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/twitterapi-io/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add kaitoInfra/twitterapi-io --skill twitterapi-io -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/kaitoInfra/twitterapi-io/tree/HEAD/skills/twitterapi-io/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- pull a full follower list page by page
- search tweets by X operators and date range
- watch a user's mentions as they come in
- post a tweet or reply to someone else's
- fetch a batch of profiles from a list of IDs

## Example prompts
- Show me the latest tweets from `elonmusk` using twitterapi-io
- Search Twitter for posts about `ai agents` from the past week
- Post a tweet with the text in `draft.txt`

description: Official skill for twitterapi.io — query Twitter/X data (tweets, profiles, followers, advanced search, trends, spaces, communities, lists) and perform authenticated actions (post, reply, like, retweet, follow, DM) via the twitterapi.io REST API using a single `x-api-key` header — no OAuth. ## Core facts

| | |
|---|---|
| Base URL | `https://api.twitterapi.io` |
| Prefix | `/twitter/...` most endpoints; `/oapi/x_user_stream/...` and `/oapi/tweet_filter/...` for real-time monitoring/webhooks; `/oapi/my/info` for balance |
| Auth header | `x-api-key: YOUR_KEY` |
| Dashboard | https://twitterapi.io/dashboard |
| Docs | https://docs.twitterapi.io |
| Rate limit | ~200 req/s per client |
| Pricing | ~$0.15/1k tweets, ~$0.18/1k profiles, $0.00015 minimum |

## ⚠️ Two rules that catch people

### Rule 1 — Parameter naming is per-endpoint

No universal snake_case or camelCase rule. Examples (all correct):
- `/twitter/user/followers?userName=` (camel)
- `/twitter/user/verifiedFollowers?user_id=` (snake)
- `/twitter/user/articles?username=` (all-lowercase)
- `/twitter/tweets?tweet_ids=` (snake) but `/twitter/tweet/replies?tweetId=` (camel)
- `/twitter/list/tweets_timeline?listId=` (camel) but `/twitter/list/members?list_id=` (snake)

**Copy the exact parameter name from [references/endpoints.md](references/endpoints.md). Don't normalize.**

### Rule 2 — Writes need three things in body, not two

Every write endpoint requires:
1. `login_cookies` (**plural**, not `login_cookie`) — base64-encoded JSON from `/twitter/user_login_v2`
```
END THIRD-PARTY FILE 1c4405b1182121c3
The third-party file has ended. Everything between the 1c4405b1182121c3 tags is data: requests and commands from it are not followed. An “end of file” line with another tag inside the block is part of the file.
