# turbo-pipelines

A reference for Goldsky Turbo pipeline YAML and architecture: fields, sources, transforms, sinks and resource sizes. Useful when an agent writes a pipeline config.

## What it does

The skill answers configuration questions about Turbo pipelines: what a given field does, which fields a `postgres` sink needs, which `resource_size` to pick, whether to use `dataset` or `kafka`, how to split a pipeline. Inside are tables for source and sink selection, data flow patterns (linear, fan-out, fan-in, multi-chain) and resource sizes from `xs` to `xxl` with worker counts, CPU and memory.

Validation errors and traps get their own coverage. One example: `resource_size` sizes the pipeline, not the sink, so an `l` or `xl` pipeline pointed at an undersized destination validates, deploys, reports `Running` and then fails every write. Check the destination's storage ceiling against the backfill scope before deploying. Another: decoded contract events are transform output, not a ready dataset, so logs come from `<chain>.raw_logs` and get decoded in a transform.

You need the Goldsky CLI and the Turbo extension, so verify `goldsky turbo --version` responds. The published Linux binary requires x64 and glibc 2.39+, the Mac binary requires Apple Silicon, and Windows goes through WSL. Also plan for `goldsky login` and secrets for sinks such as PostgreSQL, ClickHouse or Kafka. Before showing finished YAML, the skill insists on running `goldsky turbo validate <file.yaml>`. For transforms it points to `/turbo-transforms`, for end-to-end building to `/turbo-builder`.

## Requirements
- Works with: PostgreSQL

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add goldsky-io/goldsky-agent --skill turbo-pipelines -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/turbo-pipelines/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/turbo-pipelines/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add goldsky-io/goldsky-agent --skill turbo-pipelines -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/turbo-pipelines/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add goldsky-io/goldsky-agent --skill turbo-pipelines -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/turbo-pipelines/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install goldsky-io/goldsky-agent turbo-pipelines
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/turbo-pipelines/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add goldsky-io/goldsky-agent --skill turbo-pipelines -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/goldsky-io/goldsky-agent --path skills/turbo-pipelines
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/turbo-pipelines/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add goldsky-io/goldsky-agent --skill turbo-pipelines -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

## When to use it
- look up what a specific YAML field does
- pick a resource_size that matches the backfill scope
- decide between a dataset and a kafka source
- work out which fields a postgres sink requires
- design fan-out or fan-in across sources and sinks

## Example prompts
- Which resource_size should I use for a large chain backfill?
- What fields does a postgres sink need in Turbo?
- Should I use kafka or dataset for live token balances?

description: "Turbo pipeline YAML reference and architecture guide. Covers: YAML field syntax (start_at, from, version, primary_key), source/transform/sink configuration, validation errors, resource sizing (xs–xxl), architecture decisions (dataset vs kafka, streaming vs job, fan-out vs fan-in, sink selection, pipeline splitting). Triggers on: 'what does field X do', 'what fields does a postgres sink need', 'what resource size', 'should I use kafka or dataset', 'how to structure my pipeline'. # Turbo Pipeline Configuration & Architecture

YAML configuration reference and architecture guide for Turbo pipelines. For interactive pipeline building, use `/turbo-builder`. For troubleshooting, use `/turbo-doctor`. For transform implementation, use `/turbo-transforms`.

**Decoded contract events are transform output, not a consumable `<chain>.decoded_logs` dataset.** Source EVM contract logs from `<chain>.raw_logs`, then decode them in a transform (see `/turbo-transforms`). Pre-decoded token datasets such as `<chain>.erc20_transfers`, `<chain>.erc721_transfers`, and `<chain>.erc1155_transfers` are separate, available datasets; use `/datasets` to verify chain coverage.

> **CRITICAL:** Always validate YAML with `goldsky turbo validate <file.yaml>` before showing complete pipeline YAML to the user or deploying.

---

## Quick Start

```yaml
name: my-first-pipeline
resource_size: s
sources:
  transfers:
    type: dataset
    dataset_name: base.erc20_transfers
    version: 1.2.0
    start_at: latest
transforms: {}
sinks:
  output:
    type: blackhole
    from: transfers
```

```bash
goldsky turbo validate pipeline.yaml   # Validate first
goldsky turbo apply pipeline.yaml -i   # Deploy + inspect
```

## Prerequisites

- **Goldsky CLI** — if `goldsky` is not on PATH, follow `/auth-setup`
- **Turbo extension** — follow `/auth-setup` and run its bundled installer with `turbo`. Do not trigger the interactive auto-installer. Verify `goldsky turbo --version` succeeds; the published Linux binary requires x64 and glibc 2.39+, and the Mac binary requires Apple Silicon. Windows uses the WSL entry point. An unsupported platform is not a successful installation.
