# Trello Automation

A skill that automates Trello boards: cards, lists, Butler rules and workflow templates. Useful when the board follows its own rules instead of yours.

## What it does

The skill hands the agent four tools from the `project-mcp` MCP server: `trello_card`, `trello_list`, `trello_board` and `trello_automation`. Through them it creates and updates cards, moves them between lists, sets labels, due dates and members, and pulls board reports and activity logs.

Inside you get ready-made descriptions of board and card structure, Butler rules with triggers and actions, card buttons, sprint board and content calendar templates, plus checklists for bug fixes and features. There is a section on power-up integrations, but it cuts off mid-sentence, so do not count on details there.

Before you start, make sure the `project-mcp` server is connected and exposes the Trello tools. Without it the skill has nothing to call. Support is listed for `claude-3-opus`, `claude-3-sonnet` and `gpt-4`.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill trello-automation -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/trello-automation/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/trello-automation/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill trello-automation -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/trello-automation/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill trello-automation -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/trello-automation/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install claude-office-skills/skills trello-automation
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/trello-automation/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill trello-automation -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills --path trello-automation
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/trello-automation/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add claude-office-skills/skills --skill trello-automation -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/claude-office-skills/skills/tree/HEAD/trello-automation/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- create a card with labels, due date and assignee in one go
- set up a Butler rule that moves a card to the right list automatically
- spin up a sprint board with ready lists and labels
- pull an activity report for a board
- sync cards across several boards

## Example prompts
- Create a card in the To Do list with the Bug label and a due date three days out
- Set up a Butler rule: when a card moves to Doing, assign me and set a due date
- Build a sprint board from the template with a WIP limit on In Progress
