## What it does

The skill runs a two-stage loop. Stage 1 applies deterministic dictionary corrections — known variants get replaced outright. Stage 2 is native AI correction: the model reads the whole transcript, fixes one-off errors, checks uncertain entities and compounds reusable fixes for later runs. Stage 2 is the default; Stage 1 on its own is incomplete.

No external API key is required, because correction runs on Claude's or Codex's built-in capabilities. A Stage 3 API path exists, but only for automation with no agent available — in Claude or Codex you skip it. Scripts are invoked with `uv run` from the skill directory, and `$CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR` is not reliable since it is missing in some harnesses.

Speech is never rewritten for fluency. A correction has to explain a plausible ASR error and keep track of who said what. Speaker identities stay as they are unless the user explicitly grants inference for that task, and an unfamiliar token counts as unknown rather than wrong. When the evidence does not settle a doubt, the text stays untouched and goes into a review queue — a visible garble beats a fluent wrong guess.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill transcript-fixer -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/transcript-fixer/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/transcript-fixer/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill transcript-fixer -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/transcript-fixer/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill transcript-fixer -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/transcript-fixer/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install daymade/claude-code-skills transcript-fixer
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/transcript-fixer/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill transcript-fixer -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/daymade/claude-code-skills --path daymade-audio/transcript-fixer
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/transcript-fixer/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add daymade/claude-code-skills --skill transcript-fixer -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/daymade/claude-code-skills/tree/HEAD/daymade-audio/transcript-fixer/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- clean homophones and garbled terms out of a meeting transcript
- fix person names and company names after speech recognition
- tidy up mixed Chinese and English text
- build recurring ASR mistakes into a reusable dictionary
- work through a queue of disputed spots and decide what stays raw

## Example prompts
- fix this transcript
- clean up the ASR errors in my meeting notes
- run Stage 1 on `meeting.md` for the `myproject` domain

# Transcript Fixer

Use the correction loop:

1. Stage 1 applies deterministic, already-known corrections.
2. Native AI Correction reads the complete transcript, fixes one-off errors, verifies uncertain entities, and compounds reusable fixes.

**Native AI Correction is the default. Stage 1 alone is incomplete.** Stage 3 API exists only for automation that has no Claude/Codex agent available.

## Operating contract

- Finish Stage 1 → Native AI Correction → compound confirmed recurring fixes. Do not report a transcript clean after Stage 1 alone.
- Skip Native AI only when the human explicitly limits this run to the dictionary pass or a dated artifact proves Native AI already ran on this exact transcript.
- In Claude Code or Codex, do not run Stage 3. Use Stage 1 plus the native workflow.
- Never rewrite speech for fluency. A correction must explain a plausible ASR error and preserve who said what.
- A standard term elsewhere or a known participant is a candidate source, not proof of this occurrence's wording. Apply the occurrence-specific contrasts in [Native review packets](references/native_review_packets.md#occurrence-specific-evidence) during the first pass and cold review; retain the raw form when the discriminator is missing.
- Before accepting a name-variant match, inspect the complete company/name slot; follow [minimum occurrence checks](references/dictionary_identity_and_context.md#minimum-occurrence-checks-for-name-candidates). Ordinary wording refused by the name-shape guard uses only the bounded [written-wording route](references/review_queue_dashboard.md#written-evidence-for-ordinary-wording), never a fabricated user/audio citation.
