## What it does

The skill prepares a single plan for prototype day. It assigns the Maker, Stitcher, Writer, Asset Collector, and Interviewer roles, sets the fidelity target, and allocates time by role. It does not build the prototype; the team creates that separately in Figma, Keynote, on paper, or another chosen medium.

The plan also includes a Five-Act Interview script (Welcome, Context, Intro, Tasks, Debrief), a trial-run checklist, and a tracker for Friday’s interview participants. The team derives task wording from the storyboard, while the act order stays fixed.

Start with Wednesday’s approved storyboard. Without it, the prototype has no spec, so finish that Sprint step first.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add product-on-purpose/pm-skills --skill tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add product-on-purpose/pm-skills --skill tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add product-on-purpose/pm-skills --skill tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install product-on-purpose/pm-skills tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add product-on-purpose/pm-skills --skill tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/product-on-purpose/pm-skills --path skills/tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add product-on-purpose/pm-skills --skill tool-design-sprint-prototype-plan -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**

## When to use it
- assign prototype roles before parallel work starts
- define the prototype scope and fidelity target
- draft interview tasks from the storyboard
- check the prototype before Friday interviews
- confirm participants and activate buffer slots after cancellations

## Example prompts
- Prepare Thursday’s prototype plan from the approved storyboard.
- Assign the team roles and write a brief with a clear fidelity target.
- Draft the Five-Act Interview script and a trial-run checklist.

# Design Sprint Prototype Plan (Thursday morning)

Thursday is the prototype build day. This skill produces the morning planning artifact that makes the build run; it does NOT build the prototype itself. The skill assigns roles, locks the fidelity bar, drafts the Five-Act interview script, defines the trial-run gate, and confirms Friday participants. The actual building (Figma frames, slideware decks, role-play scripts, paper assemblies) is craft work the team owns through the rest of Thursday.

Family contract: [`docs/reference/skill-families/design-sprint-skills-contract.md`](../../docs/reference/skill-families/design-sprint-skills-contract.md). This skill is a member of `design-sprint-skills`.

## When to Use

- It is Thursday morning of the Design Sprint and Wednesday's storyboard is signed off.
- The Friday participant tracker needs a Thursday-morning confirmation check; cancellations now trigger buffer activation.
- The interview script needs to be drafted (or refined from a prior sprint's template) before the interviewer can mock-run it Thursday afternoon.
- The team needs role assignments before parallel build work begins; ad-hoc assignment Thursday afternoon wastes 1-2 hours.
