## What it does

The skill takes one verified callable-tool contract and one authoritative behavior input, then produces a complete tool-specific skill package or a meaning-preserving update to an existing skill. It handles MCP, native and custom tool contracts. Two commands do the work: `generate` builds the package, `apply` edits a named skill with validation and recorded hashes.

The procedure is long on purpose. It resolves exactly one origin (`established-mcp`, `owned-mcp`, `native` or `custom`), then one callable identity from owner, runtime, namespace, exact name and version. It inspects the live schema, writes a tool profile, and normalizes each behavior rule without changing its wording or strength. Ambiguous identity, behavior, authority, source or update target stops the run. That is the point: it will not guess on your behalf.

Generation runs through `mise run tool-call-config generate @descriptor.json --behavior @behavior.json --output <directory>`. Applying goes through `apply` with an integration plan and an evidence directory; target hashes are re-read first, and a second `apply` must report `no-op` with zero changed files. Static checks prove package shape, not runtime activation — if the host gives no activation evidence, activation stays unproved.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add srinitude/skills --skill tool-call-configuration-for -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/tool-call-configuration-for/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/tool-call-configuration-for/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add srinitude/skills --skill tool-call-configuration-for -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/tool-call-configuration-for/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add srinitude/skills --skill tool-call-configuration-for -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/tool-call-configuration-for/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install srinitude/skills tool-call-configuration-for
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/tool-call-configuration-for/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add srinitude/skills --skill tool-call-configuration-for -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/srinitude/skills --path skills/tool-call-configuration-for
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/tool-call-configuration-for/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add srinitude/skills --skill tool-call-configuration-for -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/srinitude/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/tool-call-configuration-for/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- build a skill for one exact tool from a behavior description
- merge new rules into an existing skill without changing their meaning
- map each behavior rule against what the tool contract supports
- confirm a repeated apply changes nothing
- separate verified tool facts from assumptions

## Example prompts
- Generate a skill for the `search_issues` tool using the behavior in `@behavior.md`
- Apply the integration plan to the `release-notes` skill with behavior from `@rules.md`
- Show the command grammar and required inputs

# tool-call-configuration-for

Turn one verified callable-tool contract plus one authoritative behavior input into a complete tool-specific skill or a meaning-preserving update to one existing skill. Keep facts about the tool, desired behavior, enforcement, and target ownership separate until the integration decision is proved.

## Which commands does this skill accept?

| Command                                                                       | Result                                                                                        |
| ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `help` | Show this grammar, required inputs, origin classes, and enforcement limit. |
| `generate <tool-reference> --behavior <inline-or-@path>`                      | Generate one collision-safe tool-specific skill package plus profiles and trace evidence.     |
| `apply <tool-reference> --target <path-or-name> --behavior <inline-or-@path>` | Apply a checked integration plan to one exact existing skill, validate it, and record hashes. |

Plain non-help input containing one tool reference and one behavior configuration aliases to `generate`. A tool collection, server, application, namespace, plugin, or tool family is not a valid target. Missing or materially ambiguous behavior, identity, authority, source, or update target stops the run.

## What is the full procedure?

1. Write a progress log outside this skill package. Record the date, checkout commit, remote main commit, command, requested outcome, protected boundaries, and proof needed.
