# tmux-fleet

Runs several coding agents side by side in tmux windows, each on its own clausona profile, and keeps tabs on what they report back. Useful when one account throttles a fan-out.

## What it does

The skill handles the tmux side of a fan-out. It opens a window per task, launches an agent there under the clausona profile you picked, and gives that worker a channel for reporting status. You watch the session's status bar instead of hopping between windows.

A helper script, `scripts/tmux-fleet.mjs`, does the work; the skill calls it as `H`. Claude workers also get `--settings <worktree>/.fleet-claude.json` — session-only hooks that log turn start, turn end, failures and permission prompts to `<worktree>/.fleet-events.jsonl`. Codex workers ring the terminal bell on approval waits and turn ends, and a tmux hook on the window catches it. The helper adds `/.fleet-*` to the repo's `info/exclude`, so briefs and event files never land in a commit.

Two things must be in place first. `fleet-core` has to be installed, otherwise the skill halts and tells the user to add that plugin. And you have to be inside tmux: `H status` fails otherwise, because the helper drives the session you are sitting in. tmux runs on macOS, Linux and WSL; on Windows without WSL there is none. The repo also needs a remote, since workers push their branches.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill tmux-fleet -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/tmux-fleet/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/tmux-fleet/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill tmux-fleet -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/tmux-fleet/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill tmux-fleet -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/tmux-fleet/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install larcane97/clausona tmux-fleet
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/tmux-fleet/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill tmux-fleet -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/larcane97/clausona --path plugins/tmux-fleet/skills/tmux-fleet
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/tmux-fleet/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add larcane97/clausona --skill tmux-fleet -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/larcane97/clausona/tree/HEAD/plugins/tmux-fleet/skills/tmux-fleet/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- spread a batch of tasks across several Claude or Codex accounts
- put some of the work on an API model such as GLM or DeepSeek
- track parallel agents from the tmux status bar
- move a task off an account that is running out of quota
- give each worker its own worktree and branch

## Example prompts
- Split these tasks across my accounts in tmux
- Run these on DeepSeek in tmux windows
- Start a worker per profile and show me who is doing what

description: Run several coding agents in parallel in tmux windows, each under its own clausona profile (another Claude Code or Codex account, or an API model such as GLM or DeepSeek), then watch them, check their work and retire them. Use when the user works in tmux, on their own machine or over SSH, and wants work spread across accounts or models, when one account's limits would slow a fan-out, or says "split this across my accounts in tmux", "run these on DeepSeek in tmux windows".

# tmux fleet on clausona profiles

tmux runs each worker in a window of the session you are in, and its status bar lists them.
clausona puts each window's agent on the profile you choose. tmux cannot tell what an agent is
doing, so the helper that ships with this skill gives each worker a way to report it, and waits on
those reports.

## 0. Load the shared rules

Load the `fleet-core` skill first and follow it; this skill only adds the tmux steps. In Claude
Code, invoke it with the Skill tool. If that fails, or you run in Codex, read the first of these
files that exists, where `<base>` is this skill's base directory:

- `<base>/../../../fleet-core/skills/fleet-core/SKILL.md`
- `<base>/../../../../fleet-core/*/skills/fleet-core/SKILL.md` (if several versions match, read the
  highest)

If none exists, stop and tell the user to install it: `claude plugin install fleet-core@clausona`
in Claude Code, or `codex plugin add fleet-core@clausona` in Codex.

## 1. Before anything

Below, `H` means `node <base>/scripts/tmux-fleet.mjs`. Write it out in full, or start the command
with the function `H() { node <base>/scripts/tmux-fleet.mjs "$@"; }`. Never put it in a variable:
zsh does not split a variable into words. Every `H` command prints JSON, except `H read`, which
prints the screen. Read window and pane ids from the JSON; never guess them.

Stop and tell the user what is missing if any of these fails.

1. `H status` prints `"ok": true`. It fails outside tmux: the helper drives the tmux session you
   run in, so do not drive tmux from outside it. In Codex, `TMUX` also looks unset when Codex hides
   the environment (`fleet-core`, Shells). If it does, do not tell the user they are outside tmux:
   tell them to start Codex again in this pane with `-c shell_environment_policy.inherit=all`.
   tmux runs on macOS, Linux and WSL. On Windows without WSL there is no tmux: suggest herdr-fleet
   or orca-fleet.
2. Pass on any `warnings` it prints. With `bell-action` set to `none` or `current` in the user's
   tmux (or `other`, while the user looks at that window), a Codex worker is noticed only by the
   quiet check (section 3).
