## What it does

The skill offloads CSS, JavaScript, fonts, and client bundles from application servers to Tigris object storage. Tigris public buckets route traffic through the closest global edge node automatically, which removes the need to maintain an external CDN.

It outlines caching strategies based on file hashing and provides ready-to-use upload commands. For fingerprinted bundles and font files, it configures `Cache-Control: public, max-age=31536000, immutable`, while mutable entry points like HTML or manifests get `must-revalidate`. Dedicated guides cover integration with Next.js, Remix, Rails, Django, Laravel, and Express.

Execution requires the `@tigrisdata/cli` package installed in your system. Without the `tigris` binary, upload routines targeting `t3://` buckets will fail.

## Install

### Claude Code (native platform)

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tigrisdata/skills --skill tigris-static-assets -a claude-code
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `~/.claude/skills/tigris-static-assets/SKILL.md` — Copy the whole skill folder; for one project use .claude/skills/tigris-static-assets/

### Codex

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tigrisdata/skills --skill tigris-static-assets -a codex
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.agents/skills/tigris-static-assets/SKILL.md` — For all projects use ~/.agents/skills/

### Cursor

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tigrisdata/skills --skill tigris-static-assets -a cursor
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.cursor/skills/tigris-static-assets/SKILL.md` — Cursor also reads .agents/skills/ and .claude/skills/

### GitHub Copilot

1. **GitHub CLI**
```bash
gh skill install tigrisdata/skills tigris-static-assets
```

2. **Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.github/skills/tigris-static-assets/SKILL.md`

### Gemini CLI

1. **Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tigrisdata/skills --skill tigris-static-assets -a gemini-cli
```

2. **Platform CLI**
```bash
gemini skills install https://github.com/tigrisdata/skills --path skills/tigris-static-assets
```

### Windsurf (Devin Desktop)

**Manually: put the files in place**
- File: `.devin/skills/tigris-static-assets/SKILL.md` — The legacy .windsurf/skills/ path still works

### OpenCode

**Skills CLI (Vercel)**
```bash
npx skills add tigrisdata/skills --skill tigris-static-assets -a opencode
```

### Claude.ai

**Claude.ai**
- Zip the folder and upload it in Settings → Capabilities → Skills

Where a file is given instead of a command, copy the files from the source to that path: https://github.com/tigrisdata/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/tigris-static-assets/SKILL.md

## When to use it
- deploy build artifacts to a public Tigris storage bucket
- configure immutable Cache-Control headers for hashed bundles
- offload asset serving from backend servers to Tigris edge CDN
- wire Tigris assetPrefix into Next.js, Remix, or Rails build flows

## Example prompts
- Write a deploy script to sync my dist directory to a Tigris bucket with immutable caching
- Configure asset CDN delivery using Tigris in a Next.js project
- Show me the proper Cache-Control flags for Tigris CLI uploads

# Tigris Static Asset Hosting

Deploy CSS, JavaScript, fonts, and build artifacts to Tigris for global CDN delivery. Covers asset pipeline integration, cache-busting strategies, and `Cache-Control` configuration for all major frameworks.

## Prerequisites

**Before doing anything else**, install the Tigris CLI if it's not already available:

```bash
tigris help || npm install -g @tigrisdata/cli
```

If you need to install it, tell the user: "I'm installing the Tigris CLI (`@tigrisdata/cli`) so we can work with Tigris object storage."

## Overview

Tigris public buckets automatically serve files from the nearest global edge — no separate CDN configuration needed. Combined with content-hashed filenames and immutable cache headers, this gives you fast, cost-effective static asset delivery.

**Key pattern:**

1. Build assets with content hashes (e.g., `main-abc123.js`)
2. Upload to a public Tigris bucket
3. Set `Cache-Control: public, max-age=31536000, immutable`
4. Point your app's asset URL to the Tigris bucket

---

## Cache Headers

```bash
# For immutable, hashed assets (CSS, JS bundles)
Cache-Control: public, max-age=31536000, immutable
# For mutable assets (manifest files, index.html)
Cache-Control: public, max-age=0, must-revalidate
# For fonts
Cache-Control: public, max-age=31536000, immutable
```

### Setting Headers via CLI

```bash
tigris cp dist/main-abc123.js t3://my-assets/main-abc123.js \
  --cache-control "public, max-age=31536000, immutable" \
  --content-type "application/javascript"
```

### Setting Headers via SDK

```typescript
import { put } from "@tigrisdata/storage";
await put("assets/main-abc123.js", fileBuffer, {
  access: "public",
  contentType: "application/javascript",
});
```

---

## Upload Script (General)

```bash
#!/bin/bash
# scripts/deploy-assets.sh
BUCKET="my-app-assets"
BUILD_DIR="dist"
# Upload hashed assets with long cache
tigris cp "$BUILD_DIR/" "t3://$BUCKET/" -r \
  --cache-control "public, max-age=31536000, immutable"
echo "Assets deployed to t3://$BUCKET/"
```

---

## Framework Guides

Read the resource file for your framework:

- **Next.js** — Read `./resources/nextjs.md` for assetPrefix config and deploy script
- **Remix** — Read `./resources/remix.md` for Vite config and deploy script
- **Express** — Read `./resources/express.md` for static redirect pattern
- **Rails** — Read `./resources/rails.md` for Sprockets/Propshaft asset sync
- **Django** — Read `./resources/django.md` for collectstatic with S3 backend
- **Laravel** — Read `./resources/laravel.md` for Vite/Mix asset upload
